Textbook council massive exaggeration about the actual size of the offending hole in the floor!
The way her eyes appear to be focused, the hole may genuinely look massive to her. biggrin
Someone at the housing association had fun responding to the local papers questions.

“On arrival the workers were unable to go through the front door and had to access the property from the back door...Miss Birkett showed them the hole and they advised her that she would need to clear the area if they were going to be able to complete the job."
More chance of a captive Capybara fixing its own cage than Dave Lister in a dress sorting that out if she cant be arsed cleaning.

I like the way the clock and picture are keenly balanced in the leather suite.

Why do people in those type of stories always look a bit inbred...

They never look like they have a window cleaner, always just use their tongues instead.

The old joke in social housing is you don't have a window cleaner.

You have a joiner who comes round and re varnishes the boards on your windows once in a while.

Re: damage and earlier post : yes I've been in a house where every single internal wall had been removed. 1st flr and roof were held up with acro props. You could stand on the grd flr and see the underneath of the roof tiles.

Using Wc on 1st flr was literally a free experience, not a single wall !

This was a three bed semi. Mental truly mental

I was in a terrace house last year, they decided to use the cellar more, so they dug a metre UNDER the foundations, no props and no plan to support the walls, they even chopped off the spread of the old bricks as it "was in the way".

this was a bloke who had just come into some money, so bought his first house.

'Security' lights brighter than the sun, and pointed directly at neighbours' bedroom windows, that come one for two minutes every time a cat crosses what used to be the lawn.
This. We live in a row on semi's, with a canal behind our rear gardens. Nice little cul-de-sac. There's an estate on the opposite side of the canal, and those houses sit lower than ours.

My bedroom is in the loft with a flat roof window, yet somehow one of the houses across the canal has managed to aim their security light directly into my window. So every night when it's dark I get this bloody bright square beam of light projected onto my ceiling / wall.

Surely it can't be lighting up anything in their garden!?

You can just make it out in the photo. The trees on both sides have been ucut back loads since this too.[/quote

Outside dunny with a viewing window!

I picked up a lovely Toshiba laptop via a Facebook selling page. Got it really cheap as they could not understand it. So there are bargains out there. But I do agree why bother selling anything for £1?

If somebody wants to give me £1 for an empty CD case, I would bother. But would somebody who is prepared to buy that be allowed out of their house on their own?

Saying terrace house instead of terraced. Let's be honest we are all a bit council, some more than others. smile

Same as ads for cars - "needs restored", "runs good" etc.. It's just as easy to get it right first time, but they probably don't know any better.

(I lived my first 16 years in "council", so I'm not one to talk........)
