I have a couple of little nipper traps and I don't like them because they are too 'hair trigger' to the point of being almost unsettable. This, and the likelihood of catching the mouse by its foot or leg rather than a clean instant kill. Horrible things (the traps, not the mice).

I have a rodent problem in my garden shed and deal with it with a Victor electronic rat trap. It's brilliant and pretty well instant.

Certainly is. I did not know that.

That seems like a significantly sensible way of doing it. Avoids the "this, but not that" of a big blue bin, or the frankly ridiculous ten little separate containers I see round some places. Does it add a lot to the cost of processing, and does it help Essex achieve better recycling numbers?

Well, other than starting massive fires whenever the yard gets full of unrecyclable tat, what does the average recycling plant actually do?

Our recycling is mixed paper - plastic - glass - metal. How the hell are they going to process that efficiently? The average hiusehold plastic will be a mix of pet / hdpe / ldpe / pet-g / polystyrene. That in itself is a challenge, without a wolrd of paper in the mix...
