Calling tomato ketchup 'red sauce'.
Calling tomato sauce ketchup.
Every single tomato ketchup manufacturer is council then?
Only the consumers!

Another one. Paying for things like groceries where it is over £30 in cash.

That happened with me too. But my father was born in Zambia 26 years before I was born in the UK.

ETA: My father was born in a hospital that was built and run by his father if that's any less council

Yes, that's an interesting one.

It is only the council types that seem to do this.

I have a friend who is pretty council (but a nice guy) and it's because he takes all of his wage/benefits/whatever source of income out of the bank on the day it's paid

This a terrible habit I've gotten into. An old butty shop used to cover your sarnie in chopped tomato juice if you asked for tomato sauce.

I agree. I was trying to back up your point with a real life example

Listen to Danny Baker (R5L) on saturday mornings. 'The sausage sandwich game'
Would you choose red sauce, brown sauce or no sauce at all?
Council?, I think not.

I pay for everything with a card, hardly ever carry cash, haven't for the past decade!

I too must be 'a bit council' hehe

Yep, have seen jogging-bottoms clad council types buy a 30p bag of crisps on a debit card. I try and avoid convenience stores but sometimes needs must.

I put nearly everything on my credit card, it gives me more time to pay it, improves my credit rating and they pay me to spend money. Also, the retailer doesn't have to deal with cash

Nobody got the Katie Price reference?

She is council for sure.

Yep, me too. Right up to last year I might typically pay cash for anything less than £10 but 2015 seems to be the year I've default gone to contactless wherever I can and have noticed that rather than drawing cash weekly it's now pretty much monthly. Seems a bit odd/sad/end of an era but have done it for all the reasons above.

If it is a bit council then hopefully the (currently broken) oil-burning Aga in the kitchen cancels this coucilish behaviour out.

Paying for all small value purchases with a (contactless) card is the modern way. Paying cash for anything will soon be council.

The only reason for carrying cash is for tips or if you need a cab.
