Even using apple pay?
Love contactless - love Apple Pay. Cash is horrible, dirty stuff!

yup, we run a minicab company and are one of the very few to take any sort of card payments. seen a huge increase in people paying with card this year over previous. To the point we are now getting repeat bookings off the back of the ability to pay by card

in regards to council, any flight to spain before 6am from a Scottish airport.

Doesnt every council estate/callcentre worker etc own an Apple phone on a £40-£50 a month contract?

For me apple = wannabe etc
Don't know - I don't live on a council estate and I don't work in a call centre. I paid for my phone outright as did all of the people I know who have iPhones.

+1 huge fan. My change tin is almost full from start of year but now I never use cash. Brilliant.

This a terrible habit I've gotten into. An old butty shop used to cover your sarnie in chopped tomato juice if you asked for tomato sauce.
Saying 'butty shop'.

In fairness, this could just be a Northern thing. But I think the two could also go hand in hand..... hehe

Contactless?

No pin, no digging around for cash, just touch your card on the reader and off you go.

Paying for all small value purchases with a (contactless) card is the modern way. Paying cash for anything will soon be council.
Paying for a car at a dealership with actual cash is fking council, and also a PITA!

I saw an ad on the TV last night which had a byline "97% of gyms have a pool" - well, not round here, they don't! Which got me thinking - "Council" is those men's gyms which cater for the body-building types. Usually a unit on a really low-rent industrial estate, blaring out techno/rave style sounds, and with a shifty guy behind the desk who'll flog you weird pills from China.

BTW I'm an advocate of cash. When everyone's been converted to contactless, just watch what happens to bank charges on your current accounts. Someone's got to pay, and it'll be you.

Being 44, having a hotel at the airport, having someone (me) check you in and make sure you have a boarding card and still managing to miss your flight, leaving your colleague who got up at 4.30am just to show you where the office is in Germany, sat, tired and PO'd in a bar before 11am is very council.

Am I doing this right!

Calling tomato sauce ketchup.
Every single tomato ketchup manufacturer is council then?
Only the consumers!
Calling a product by its description is council?

How very bizarre.

Another one. Paying for things like groceries where it is over £30 in cash.
Paying for things under £20 with a card.
I pay for everything by card, even if it's a under a pound.

I simply never carry cash unless I specifically have to give physical money to someone for something, e.g. a purchase made from eBay collected in person.

Not sure I believe that's possible ?

i.e. parking meters, a pound for a trolley, paying for food in cafes that don't take cards, getting drinks in on a night out, paying yr share of a meal (i.e throwing £20/£30 in for the bill), getting yr hair cut (my barbers don't take cards), putting air in yr tyres at a garage, garage car washes, both automatic and immigrant served, there must be many more instances ?

Long live cash, the plebs choice! I'm uber-council - I get paid in cash, so I've always got a wedge (Council word) in my pocket. Thus my shopping is paid for in cash, as is my fuel, my social spending et al. I don't pay bank charges, but I expect to have to pay them soon because of you lot and your fancy cards, with the banks wanting to recoup the cost of introducing all this technology.
