Yesterday I was more than a bit council.

The nearest shop that was open at 10.30am and sold hash browns and mushrooms (for mrs' and daughter's breakfast)was Iceland.

Later in the day we were shopping in the 99p Store followed by Poundland.

Still feeling full from our Iceland breakfast we decided not to cook a big roast and got a takeaway from McDonalds.... but not before buying Vienetta and The Sun from a convenience store.

I'm gonna put a good shift in at work today to make up for it.
Congratulations, and jubilations. What a day!

As for the 99p and poundland, I rarely shop anywhere else these days. If you are selective you can get all your needs for a song. (Poundland now do milk and bread.) First stop on my morning itinerary.

One aberation though, The Sun is not now considered council. Most councillors now read, well look at the pictures, the Guardian.
They are good for posh (how can it be posh in a £1 shop) cat food. 5 for a £1/99p compared to probably that much each in a supermarket.

Maltesers are ALWAYS £1/99p. Toblerones also , branded multipack crisps.... the list goes on.

I wouldn't be able to understand 2 words up there - it'd be like Naked Video meets Brookie... hehe
It's alright though, we were both brought up with the expectation that we would have a role requiring to speak to people on the telephone, thus we don't have strong accents.

Unless we are angry or quite drunk, in which case she goes quite northern and i go the full doric.

The Runswick Bay Hotel Pub does an awesome Chicken Parmo Hotshot. They do also serve Wold Top Beers, so they give councilness with one hand, and take it away with the other.
I have been in that pub twice did not eat though.

Do they do a "healthy eating" range ?

You've almost got the hang of it. Supper is an evening meal eaten in. One goes out for dinner, hence the need to dress.

One goes out for dinner,
...or invites guests in.

Yes, I'll go with that. In which case I apologise to Wildcat for my initial accusation, which I now accept has no basis in fact.

Not knowing the difference implies I am a bit council. Apologising (which would be anathema to council folk) hopefully wipes my slate clean.

Anyway, I'm off to get a £7 haircut...

You're all peasants. Dinner can be midday or evening. http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english...

BTW if you have guests for dinner isn't that a dinner party?

And presumably the food is served by dinner ladies? smile

I'd wager you looked that up to be sure. Which is cheating prole behaviour, on a par with the lager drinking epsilons I spotted at the pub quiz last night, googling answers under the table. Even when the question was 'in what year was the battle of Hastings fought?'.

NB: I was not participating in the pub quiz. I was merely observing whilst reading 'Voltaire'.

Pub quiz on a Monday night? Council, should be a Thursday night.

I went into a Poundland yesterday for the first time in a while and since I've not been in the UK as much, things have really changed. Managed to bag Toffifee, Honey Roast Nuts, 2x Schwarzkopf shampoo, 2 x Schwarzkopf conditioner and a box of Dairy Milk to give to the missus' mother as a "thank you" for when she picks us up from the airport later this week, all for the princely sum of 7 pounds.....And 5p, thanks to the new bag charge, which I then moaned about, as I hadn't realised this was now compulsory - so I was council for going into Poundland and then wallowed in the mud even more and had an argument with a poor member of staff which I lost.

Outsmarted by a Poundland employee, beat that...

When in the UK I regularly do a pub quiz in (well, just outside) Cambridge. I take pride, I THRIVE, in the fact I get the footy/sports/TV rounds correct, and leave the dons and the bright sparks floundering when there is normally only a single classics round for them to nail.

I am, to be honest, council as fk. Piercings, tattoos, I enjoy a good fart.

My name's Bob and I'm a Counciholic.
