Knowing that.
I'd say not knowing it is more council; it's common acquired knowledge for inquisitive minds.
Nonsense. It's exactly the same as knowing the different bread types at Subway off by heart. Or knowing which bus you need to catch.

That's like saying if you know where the scummy areas of England are, you must be scummy yourself. What a ridiculous premise.

This thread passed beyond what is actually council, apart from the odd newspaper story a long time ago - much of the submissions are now just normal day to day exercises that the PH lords and masters think is beneath them.

Would council types even frequent a butchers shop ?
More likely to buy a jumbo value meat selection from a bloke in a van... "5 kilos assorted chum, 5 kilos misc chicken appendages, 5 kilos minced eyelids and bumholes, all for the low price of 14.99"

Definitely council. You know you're in a st hole when the place constantly smells of deep fat fried 'food'!

It's nothing like that at all. It's more like knowing where the scummy areas of England are and also how best to get to them by public transport. Or knowing where one can find free parking in them.

Having heard of Disney and wanting to keep away from anything with the name attached is fine. Knowing the intricacies and variants of their naming scheme suggests you actually love and want to marry Disneyland(world, whatever).

made an offer, arranged legal, had survey: was advised I would need to replace all carpets/underlay and strip plaster to remove the smell of "spice", pulled out:

You mean 'ending a sentence with a full stop', like I did?

I'd like to nominate new build estates, which are pretty much council estates for the middle class.

Bonus points for having,

More cars than parking spaces,

A front garden replaced with gravel or block paving,

A rear garden replaced with gravel or decking,

One side of the street lined with cars and work vans,

You have a non-descript white car on finance parked outside,

Being able to hear your neighbours through the walls even though your house is detached,

A white UPVC conservatory at least three quarters of the size of the garden,

Fake chimneys,

These are mostly caused by the same thing - new build estates where they squeeze in as many houses as possible, instead of giving the houses a bit more room to create parking.

3-bed house? That'll be a single space on the driveway then. Until you block pave the front garden to create more parking... wink

As my office is attached to a garden centre, judging by the clientele in there today, I'd nominate going to look at the Christmas department of your local garden centre on one of the first weekdays that it's open for business.
