Furniture. this must be purchased at massive expensive, weekly from brighhouse for example. it must be of the poorest quality immaginable. again extra points for integrated Ipod holders, beer fridges or reclining chairs inserted in the sofa.
Integrated beer fridges such be made mandatory IMO.

This thread is a lot less fun when it's just pointing out things that happen on council estates.

It's pointless if it just becomes "list of anything that someone does".

nono Getting the bus to Asda, then using said bus to transport enough food to feed 5 people for a week home again is council.

How about a taxi to ASDA paid for by the state?

My dad used to do that, but then again he was registered blind, and had an allowance for the use of taxis.

I saw a man yesterday on a bike carrying about 6 or 7 full bags of shopping - he was having difficulties.

Got another one:

Being vindictively called a 'snob' or 'posh' when you clearly aren't, simply because you either speak reasonably correctly and/or look smart in comparison.

I've been on the receiving end of this a few times, especially when I was at high school. I'm not posh, I grew up on an estate (neither council nor affluent) in a London overspill market town and went to the local primary, middle and high schools along with everyone else. My mum raised me and my brother to speak nicely and be polite.

It's a massive indicator of Ultimate Council when they spitefully accuse you of being several social classes higher when in reality, you live in the same town in the same size house and are in fact being raised by a widowed mum with probably less income and means than them. It would appear not wearing white socks or dropping your (h)aitches is all it takes.

Just been for a walk and saw a family moving into a rented house, all the furniture was still outside, but the occupant was inside pinning this to the front window,

Oh, and using a borrowed horse trailer to move your belongings.

What about a P38 Range Rover or an early L322?

A workmate of mine once brought this up when another colleague got one. We made all the polite noises (I actually liked it) but afterwards he said to me 'Pub manager's car'

The 20 year old Jag comments got me thinking. I like cars like that however I wonder if instead of pure council they are more the manager of the flat roof estate pub than the council house dweller? A slight cut above council. Enough to impress the drinkers on the estate but no one else?

That's about as left field as it gets, even on this thread.
Folding rear seats are to accomodate skis. You don't see many "council" in Gstaad.

Please elucidate...
I believe that Gstaad is the council skiing destination of choice this coming winter. I say!

ok, well as some of you may or may not know from my previous posts on this thread, I work in social housing.

I am also a self appointed judge of what is/isn't council !

e.g Vauxhall cars, all council

anyway, whilst on a lovely estate today, I would like to nominate "Christmas House lights".

That's right, putting them up, all over the outside of yr house on the 15th October.

If of course you were doing this to randomly collect for some unheard of charity, this would make it uber - council.

But this act is full belt and braces "council".
Not being able to write "your" in full in any post. wink

I do hope so, I look forward to watching someone in a tracksuit trying to escape the car park in a doom-blue Zafira on mis- matched budget summer tyres.

Gstaad, Klosters, Zermatt - places where the English and German languages converge and a strong and forthright JAAAA is understood by all.

I saw a teenage lad on a bike last night as I picked my son up from Cubs and thought of this thread.

He had no lights (it was 8pm and dark) , he was riding on the footpath, he had a supermarket carrier bag covering the saddle, he was on the phone and having a fag whilst pedaling along.

Each of those taken in isolation is a bit council, combined all at once is definately council.
