All 3 for me, but the comments annoy the hell out of me, they all think it's because it's the St Georges flag, no you tts, it's because he's taken a listed building and made a substantial change to it's appearance.
It would only be listed because its a late Victorian pub. The painting doesn't affect the fabric so nothings been damaged. Its not in a conservation area either so that's not an issue. I should think the neighbours have written to the council to complain but more from the point of view they are worried about anti-british backlash in their street.

He has made it look like a pub to avoid as well, so congratulations to him on that front, no 'English breakfast served here' sign would get me in there.
Thats up to him as a business

Not a big deal, Ok its 'Council', but so what.

Yep. A fiver says some local competition didn't like him encroaching on their breakfast trade and decided to make mischief.

Very possible (when did pubs start doing breakfast?), but the George Cross thing has been taken too far for a while now. It's not Rorke's Drift FFS, it's a pub using pretend patriotism to bolster trade.

That has been suggested more times than most things nominated as being 'a bit council' have been nominated.

Just had a look at the place on streetview, the area looks rather.....erm......'up and coming' as an estate agent would say, in comparison to the town centre which is rather nice, maybe they are just trying to smarten up the whole place.

But looking at the location, I am puzzled by the sign objection, it would help if we could see the sign in question.

Sadly the Planning Authority will have to refuse as otherwise it will set a precedent for other Listed Buildings to be painted in flags/motifs etc.
Shame:

Depends on their construct.

White bread and salad cream. Yes.

Granary bread, mayo, lettuce and sliced tomato. No. Food of the gods.

But you've obviously tried white bread and salad cream though ! Granary , mayo , lettuce and tomato , I wouldn't bother with the fish finger , not like your gonna taste it .

Hmm. I find that the crappier the bread the better - particularly when it is squished a bit into the FFingers.

Agree on the salad cream (does anyone still buy it?) - but find it best just to use butter.

Off to raid the freezer....smile

I do , on sausage sarnies in white bread with salty butter . I know what you mean with the cheap white bread , the cheap warbutons works best , it's that cheap I don't even feel guilty throwing the crusts in the bin !

Of course you did.
You wanted it to have time to breath and to warm slightly, knowing that it is so often brought to the table directly from the refrigerator and is far too cold to be properly appreciated.
Naturally it was just right by the time desert was served.

Not so! We had a cracking bottle of Rioja Gran Reserva with the raspberry pavlova. smile

My turn yikes

(No objections to the Rioja itself of course, just the timing.)
