Can a person who hasn't passed the relevant exams but has been employed as an Engineer call themselves an "Engineer"?
In the UK yes...… the word isn't sacred there
To be fair. I've met people with NO engineering qualifications who are better than many engineers including me, who is no more than mediocre.
I p probably should have become an accountant

Meh, funny French lot. If they can't even name the English Channel correctly, least of all call London by its real name, then their fizzy wine is whatever we want to call it.

(And it's Paris, not Pareeee)

From Wiki: "Moët is pronounced with a consonant at the end (IPA: [moɛt]) ('mo-et') as the French-born founder's surname has Dutch ancestry"

Had some shirts made in Thailand and asked the guy to monogram them on the shirt pocket.
To make sure he used the right letters I scribbled KB on a piece of paper.

Expecting a nice monogrammed result when I picked up the shirts the idiot had exactly copied my scribble on the piece of paper. biggrin

I was not a happy bunny.
I know it's wrong to laugh, but laugh anyway.

I'm hoping to move to a place which happens to come with a humungous traditional oil Aga.
Looking for a user advice site with technical queries. I'm an engineer, I need Answers!

I find the "I Love My Aga" Facebook group.
It is mostly look-at-my-larks-tongue-quiche and I-found-a-side-of-salmon-in-the-deep-freeze-what-should-I-do-with-it type stuff. There's also NAR (Not Aga Related, yes they have their own TLA) posts e.g. "these are my husband's polo gloves, they're a bit smelly and made of soft leather, how should I clean them?".
Gold, just gold smile

And any technical query is met with "call the engineer".

Thanks, I found that site, moribund. Last blog entry 2009(!). Forum link downloads a .tar file, other forum links "not found". Similar for Google search results although search results for forum entries exist into 2018.

Apologies. When I was last there is was alive and well.

An aside - our AGA supplier has just stopped selling or maintaining AGAs. I cannot help but feel they are becoming less popular. I switched off ours today for the summer and I am sure I heard a thousand polar bears breath a sigh of relief.

Friends of ours moved to a house with an Aga and within weeks the wife was getting poled by the aga engineer and lives with him now.

Today's gold:
First answer to a request for Aga-cooked popcorn flavouring.
Salt, or toffee?
Oh, no. Truffle oil. (It may be fantastic but... )
A paean to the joys of Aga toast (which I am told is fantastic) but it had to be served on a home made plate.

And finally perhaps more suited to the juvenile-sniggering-thing thread:

I really should spend less time here smile

I must admit I do still use Ethernet cables for my work laptops at home. Partly as I am next to the router, but mainly because it provides a better connection, despite BT's various promises.
