Escorts. Are there any real ones out there?

Was talking to a friend of mine about her niece's job.
"She's an escort"
"Really?!"
"Yeah, she drives the pickup truck escorting wide loads and stuff for her dad's haulage company"
"ohh!,"
That got me to thinking...
I've always thought of an "Escort" as a slightly higher class (or priced) sex worker. But are there actually any people who just provide legitimate escort services, without any of the sex/prostitution angle?
Who actually needs or uses an 'proper' Escort?

Pick up trucks aren't supposed to be used as Abnormal Load Escort vehicles!Must admit all the ones I usually see are small white vans.

But if it had any kind of Truckman/Snug top on it like 99% of Pick ups I see then it would be fine.
As an aside, I just never, ever understand that. If I bought a pick up I would want it to look like a pick up, not a van or a 4x4. People go and buy Pick ups then immediately install one of those stupid fibreglass 'backs' making it look like a 4x4 or a van.

There's plenty of massage places in Thailand that are just massage places. Often they have 'no sex' signs just to make it clear. A bit like "massage" in Thailand etc, not speaking from experience though.

They are in all but name, its in the wording they use, as it's illegal to pay for sex as we all know. You're paying for their 'time' or something, and as they make clear, what two consenting adults get up to is anyone's guess.I know far too much about that site than I really should

I was speaking to our Accountant recently who was telling me about a parlour they looked after in the 90's the Madam was apparently lovely, the first time they met she turned up in thigh high boots and a massive blonde wing like Lilly Savage because she thought people expected her to 'play the part' but out of it you wouldn't pick her out of a line-up and running a brothel.
Anyway, it's a massage parlour, health spa whathaveyou - and if you go into any of the rooms there's a table bed and the odd bit of massage equipment laying about - the door closes and the punter pays to have a rub down and 'oh dear, what's happened here' the lady is so taken by the man's patter she falls for him and they have sex - nothing illegal in that.
The Parlour works, from a tax/business point of view anyway, exactly the same way a lot of Hair and Beauty place do - the owners provide the building and fixtures and rent out individual rooms to self-employed beauticians. Our Accountant says they were all very above board with Tax and she was very insistent the girls were the same - Self-Assessments all around - she even bought the first one of those electronic fobs they give people to clock in and out of work that she'd ever seen.
The Police generally don't care as it keeps everything off the streets and HMRC don't care as long as nobody ever questions them about taking money from an immoral act (and RBS used to pay billions a year in tax in broad daylight!)
A lot of it has changed now though, that madam was pushed out by more dubious operators and finally someone tried to burn down the building - a lot of it now is people traffickers forcing girls into it.
