There used to be one in Morecambe to we used to go to a lot as kids, Frontierland, all that remains is the Polo tower now.

I have a lot of memories at Camelot, parents used to take me there nearly every month, when I was kid.

All I remember is the queues & Dad bhing that everything was an additional price, once you'd paid to get in, that would be in the mid '70s. Since we lived nearer to Woburn & Whipsnade, not very impressed...

I went to the one at Morecambe a few times, my Dad worked one one of the Power stations in Heysham for about five years in the 80's, the place has changed beyond recognition now.
I loved this park, it was big enough to entertain, yet small enough that you didn't get monster queues or prices.
American Adventure, never been but I remember the adverts.

As a theme park enthusiast, it's sad to see them go especially Camelot and Southport (Two recent casualties) when such crap parks still exist (Flamingo Land) and there is more near the edge (Lightwater Valley)

I never even knew 'The American Adventure' closed down!

I just stopped hearing the advert on the telly.

I only went once and the concept of the The Wild West during a raining day in the midlands just didnt seem to gel, even as a kid. Its all pirates and Frozen now.. I guess you just couldnt diversify a place like that once you've set your stall out as 'Wild West / frontier times'. Cowboys and Pirates just doesnt have the same ring about it.

From what I just read on 28Days it sounds like the novelty soon wore off and it went down hill fast (no pun intended)

Be interesting to see what Dreamland is like when it reopens.

Went to Dreamland a couple of times in the late 80s. The Looping Star and Scenic Railway seemed huge and terrifying when in comparison to modern rides they probably weren't. Highlight of one school trip there was one of the lads puking up all over himself whilst on the Enterprise. That was a proper fking mess.

Might go back when it's reopened, not planning on staying long in Margate though. I guess that's the crux of the problem really - it's in a carpark in a decaying Kentish seaside town.

Went to Alton Towers instead of The American Adventure.

Didn't Southport have a decent park before?

Isn't Infusion at Blackpool one of their old rides that they bought when they went bust?

The main problem with American Adventure was that no one paid to get in! They'd just jump over the fence around the back of the car park hehe no wonder it was loosing money.
Brings back memories from my youth though. I can remember when it closed and all the rides etc were auctioned off. Locals had pieces of the rides etc in their gardens hehe

Happy Mount Park, as you say thankfully blobby is long gone, the park is a nice place though.
