East Yorkshire, little village half way between hull and york, 30 minutes from each. I like the countryside living, couldn't cope with the hustle of cities. I do like it here, but, if those numbers come in, I'd be moving to the Yorkshire dales as quick as I could.
Market Weighton?
Close but not quite! Near Howden.

Kenilworth quiet friendly town, love it. Warwickshire roads are okay and you can get everywhere else fairly quickly.
I wouldn't want to live in London or Roseland again.

A local wag blanked out the "S" on the illuminating "Too Fast" sign (it's about exciting as it gets tongue out)

smile That used to be on my daily commute. Do they still put the camera vans just past that junction?

I live in the Meriden Gap. I grew up in S London/Kent/Sussex and have also lived in Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Gwynedd and Anglesey. I like it here, though I do miss the sea.

Roads round here are are ok.

Im quite happy where I live in rural leicestershire, however the govt wants the local council to allocate land for 11500 new houses, of which over 5000 are already planned, the local council refuses the planning but then gets overuled by govt inspectors. The local schools and doctors are already very full and the roads are fairly congested (as near the A5, A47 and M69).
You must be near Hinckley then?
I lived in Burbage up until last year, we got fed up with the roads being dug up everywhere, congestion on every main road, to add to the problem they've started to build a new complex in Hinckley town centre which already has access problems, and the place must be the crime capital of Leicestershire. The local newspaper "The Hinckley Crimes" is just full of doom and gloom that reflect the place, I've lived in Burbage/Hinckley all of my life and I relocated to Rutland near Oakham last summer and I can honestly say I would never ever move back to LE10 the place has gone down the pan.

I'm sorry if my opinion of LE10 offends anyone but I feel qualified to have an experienced opinion having lived there for 38 years.

Hi,

Born in Derbyshire (New Mills), grew up in High Lane then Marple. Then twenty years just outside York (job in Leeds) and have moved back West to Kendal, Cumbria.

It's wet but lovable.

Little village 10 minutes North East of York centre. Love York, I used to forget how much, but my missus hails from Crawley and in recent years I've worked in Leeds which is a daily reminder how fortunate I am!

Great roads, rural living and no shortage of real ale pubs!

Lived here pretty much all my life and always described it as 'near enough, but far enough away' smile

I live in South Bucks, right in the Chilterns. Beautiful countryside, easy access to London. There are some good driving roads in Bucks, you just have to know where to look.

Shropshire here.

NE Telford, specifically, and even if we won the lottery we'd still have HQ in Salop. Just yesterday, we took Rosie the Staffie on a long walk in the countryside near Sheriffhales. Five minutes drive, and we were out in fields with not a sound of traffic.

This evening, I went on my usual Sunday mini-hoon on quiet adjacent A-roads.

Born and raised in Stevenage, now rent in Baldock just up the road (Hertfordshire).

Would love to live somewhere more scenic and cheaper, just live here to be closer to family.

So expensive just to get by here, so I'm actively looking for a higher paying job smile

We've lived here for 18 months now, love it.

Great driving roads as soon as you're out of the town - Glencoe is 45 mins away, low crime rate, can be in the highlands in half an hour or so, town absolutely buzzing in summer with tourists, 300 days a year of rain. What's not to like smile

South Bucks for me.

I'm a country boy through an through so it's not ideal, however it is a good balance between country and city whilst not being stupid commutes for both of us. Where we live is nice however, with good restaurants/pubs etc within easy walking distance.

I'd like to move out more into the country, however there are several issues to get just right before that is done. I also don't want to piss away my life commuting which is a big consideration.

From the North West originally but made my home (literally, we've just completed a self build) in a semi-rural spot a few miles outside Durham. Love the North East, love the people and the work/life/cost of living balance works for us. Earlier this year I walked into Durham every single day to buy lunch when my office was a little further along the river and I never, ever tired of this view.

Snap!

Absolutely love it. Everything I could possibly need surrounded by lovely countryside. Work not far away at all.

And 35mins into town on the train if I ever was a visit.

Perfect.

East London (2 mins walk from Brick Lane). It's reasonable. Terrible driving standards around here (and the A12/A13 coming into/out of the area). Also, far too many hipsters. Fiancée gets public transport to work (quite close) whereas I drive out to Essex.

I preferred living in Camden Town. frown

Regardless, in a couple of years, the plan is to move to somewhere more rural. London is fun/trendy but not a place to raise a family.

I live in Onich. Glencoe 10mins away, Kinlochring 5mins away. There's a ferry at the bottom of the road that takes me across the Corran Narrows and onto a world of empty roads (other than sheep). Glasgow is under 2 hours drive for when I need a fix of city things to do.
