South Essex. Like it. Originally from West Lothian.

It gets a bad rap but I enjoy it - I live within 20 minutes of East London and 30 minutes of Central, and I am close enough to beaches in the summer and some quite pleasant countryside.

Only downsides are:

1) Traffic
2) Traffic
3) House prices
4) Those people

You did the right thing! I lived in Sheffield for 3 months, hated it. I work there again. I hate it.
I lived Crookes for a while and loved it, the far side headed towards Crosspool. Nice little village feel on the edge of town, decent shops, some boutiquey places, some more honest, Snake Pass out the back door....

I was born in the city I'm back in now - left when I was 19 and returned year and a half ago at 36. Met a girl, got married last year, cant see us moving away from the area to be honest, she came up for Uni and never went back either. Lancaster's alright, plenty of parks and places to go, it helps that my family are all here in the area, for the most part anyway. The only bummer is that it's the worst place outside London in terms of rush hour traffic speeds, but there's a lot less traffic.

Jobs wise, the area isnt great, it's not exactly a hot bed of activity in any particular field, and the largest employers are either the NHS or the Uni, neither of which seem particularly interested in anything I could do. So I'lll always have a struggle getting something relevant to me earning the money I need to. I kinda knew that when I moved back though. I moved around a lot when I was younger for this job, that job. I wish I hadnt in a way, but at the same time I wouldnt have had the experiences I had

Olney is nice, we were there last weekend for an afternoon out.

I'm in Bugbrooke, funnily enough we were going to buy a house in East Hunsbury before we bought this one, but it fell through...
I saw houses for sale in Bugbrooke but, as East Hunsbury is even pushing it, it was slightly too far for us both to commute (I work just off jct 14, but generally avoid the M1).

Me too, Hampton (Village, dont you know) to be precise.

Love it, park, river, train into London and a village feel.
A comedian I saw locally (The Bell in fact) described Hampton as "a well to do area with a piikey undercurrent" hehe

I live in Norfolk.

I moved here in 1976 when I was 3, and we lived just outside Norwich in the suburbs off the A11.
Great place to grow up with the city centre 10 minute bus ride and fields and country side a 5 minute bike ride.

Then moved back to Leicester when I was 20, and enjoyed it for a couple of years until I had my daughter, and then realised what a stehole it was and so moved back to Norwich, that was 18 years ago now.

We moved out of the city into a small market town 10 years ago, we live by the abbey, have a great load of neighbours and lots of things going on, and I love it.

1h40mins into London, 45mins to Cambridge from my house on the train, and 30 mins and I am on the beach with the dog before going into one of the hundreds of great pubs round here.

Not many places I would like to live other than round here.

They were fairly accurate with that description but being in Thames Ditton I am spared that by the fact the contingent lived in Long Ditton, although saying that they must be pretty rich now having sold the property they would have bought off the council.

P.S. I lived in Hampton many moons ago and don't recall the village moniker ? when did that happen last time I remember you were either Hampton Hill, Hampton or Hanworth pronounced with a silent H.

Warrington in Cheshire, moved here from Kettering in 1990

I like going back to kettering to see what 1983 looks like

I wouldn't move south unless it was South west

I went to London last summer and hated every minute I was there

When we're not in London we spend more time in Norfolk than anywhere else mainly due to lots of former and current family ties in various places. Love those beaches (north and east), broads and pubs :-)

South West border Cornwall/Devon.

Some nice roads and friendly people, that I have come across so far since my house move.

Near to the sea, and country side weather like most places good and bad.
Me also, live in the country and work on the cost. Lovely.

Brentwood, Essex

I get sick of people asking me if its like TOWIE...

Other than that its alright, quite well located, I'm close to London, Basildon, Romford, Chelmsford... Basically most major towns in the county.
