You did the right thing! I lived in Sheffield for 3 months, hated it. I work there again. I hate it.

I also live in Aylesbury. I have moved here from East Yorkshire. Even Hull was MUCH better...

Aylesbury is a bit of a dump, IMO.

I am originally from Hull, and yes, as a place it is better, more to do etc. Nicer places to eat down here mind!

We live in East Yorkshire near the Yorkshire Wolds and Coast , after West Yorkshire it's bliss driving
Up date now spring is here, plod is very busy with mobile cameras which is not a big problem as it doesn't take long to know their favourite spots. What is odd is the choice of enforcement areas which invariably are the only straight you can pass a tractor and nowhere near schools, built up areas etc, no doubt the object is revenue driven .

Ah, yes, you say that, but you're only allowed to live in Chesterfield if you're terminally confused.

And have twelve toes...hehe

By the way, that new sculpture of yours...

You've had the crooked spire of Chesterfield since time began. Now you've got the crooked cactus of Chesterfield...

Behold, the Cactus Roundabout...hehe

Sheffield has some great driving roads on the doorstep in North East Derbyshire. Where the hell have you found better roads around Aylesbury?

Cheshire, born and bred, it's not a bad place really (apart from being perilously close to the footballers and their housewives). 2 minutes from the Peak District, 2 minutes from some lovely quiet B-Roads and Manchester 25 minutes away on train for a bit of City living.

We live on the Isle of Wight. I love it here ... no big shopping centres, no busy roads, quiet at certain times, busy in the summer with loads to do, some great roads, great scenery and a right mix of people!

Im quite happy where I live in rural leicestershire, however the govt wants the local council to allocate land for 11500 new houses, of which over 5000 are already planned, the local council refuses the planning but then gets overuled by govt inspectors. The local schools and doctors are already very full and the roads are fairly congested (as near the A5, A47 and M69).

Hull ain't bad - although York was my more regular town of choice to travel to.

Although Aylesbury seems to be a bit of a dive, the connections to nicer places are excellent. Oxfordshire seems lovely.

EDIT : Is it just me or are the roads down here in a dire state of repair?!

Nobody from Wales on here. Abergavenny for me. Not bad at all, even though the worlds best curry house has just burnt down. Mid Wales / Beacons roads renowned for good driving.

Fife... sort of near the Forth Bridge.

Love it, wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Within an hours drive I can be anywhere from Edinburgh to Glasgow, the Scottish Borders to the East coast and the West coast or right in the Highlands... which, I don't care what anybody says, offer the best roads and the best scenery. Evo triangle... what a waste of fuel that trip was!

West Berks / South Oxfordshire border. If you are into early morning drives etc then it's all great however all the rest of the times the roads are too busy to have fun on, probably the only drawback. As a place to live it basically makes most places look like dumps, crime hardly exists, (exception of the recent nut case arsonist) high wages, low unemployment etc, Chilterns on the door step to get the countryside fix, 1 hour into central London, 1.5 hours to the South Wales countryside, it's a great place to live, but then a one up one down terrace is north of £200k, average 3 bed semi £300k and anything detached £500k+ so you'd expect it to be nice.

Miles from anywhere of consequence in rural north Essex surrounded by farms and fields. We've got deserted roads, lovely scenery, pretty villages and good pubs. I love it - it's a completely different world when compared to the rest of the Essex Badlands in the middle and saaarf of the county

Just south of the North York Moors and I bloody love it. Went out for a 40 mile bike ride this morning and, despite sticking to main roads 'cause the smaller moor roads are still impassable due to snow, I saw fewer than 10 cars. I grew up in rural Hertfordshire and like going back to that area to visit, but all the money in the world couldn't make me move there.

Mayfield just outside Ashbourne, plenty to see but rubbish for traffic in the summer months as town gets grid locked quite easily.....
