Doncaster here. Has its fair share of problems and negative press. However, it is on the way up with lots of investment and global brands seeing opportunities for growth.

Fairly affordable property with some incredible buys north of £350k. Fantastic motorway links to everywhere.

Short on good pubs and restaurants. But as I say, that is changing over time.

You did the right thing! I lived in Sheffield for 3 months, hated it. I work there again. I hate it.
I also live in Aylesbury. I have moved here from East Yorkshire. Even Hull was MUCH better...

Aylesbury is a bit of a dump, IMO.
Im from East Yorkshire.

Nothing there hated it, glad I escaped, liked Leeds and stayed there for a decade, like London have been here 8 years, now thinking of finding some other way to do my work and sod off to Finland.

Might try Helsinki and get some land.

Huddersfield, the West of, better than Sheffield, Chesterfield, Rotherham and Leeds. Great driving roads over the Pennines, with non of the reputation or policing of the Peak District.

Ah, yes, you say that, but you're only allowed to live in Chesterfield if you're terminally confused.

And have twelve toes...hehe

By the way, that new sculpture of yours...

You've had the crooked spire of Chesterfield since time began. Now you've got the crooked cactus of Chesterfield...

Behold, the Cactus Roundabout...hehe
Cactus? Thought it was a banana skin.
True, but the crooked banana skin of Chesterfield doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, so the crooked cactus of Chesterfield, it is....smile

Northern ireland, in the depths of Co. Armagh.

Road into the village i live in..

View to side of our house

Small country primary school to other side, fields and hills ahead from front.

Approx 3 miles to two local towns, and 10 miles to two cities - Newry and Armagh.

Yes, very happy.

North Wales. It's good for driving but fills up with caravans in the summer.

Luckily I've been to all corners of the country with work. Scotland has some amazing scenery and great roads but the climate lets it down!

Given the choice of location I would take Shropshire. It's how I imagine 'The Shire' to be from Tolkien's books.

Wiltshire.

Love it. The coast is about an hour away, same for the New Forest. The roads are rarely busy (A303 aside) and if I need to get away Heathrow is less than an hour away.

Same, I don't mind it, though I am grateful it's neither Barnsley nor Rotherham. I do enjoy the trip to North Yorks though for the roads, or across to Sheffield and the Peak District.

North Yorkshire a mile or so off the "Helmsley TT" route. Great roads around here, but we are keeping up the pretence - it is a real dump so please stay away.

I live in a rural village of essex, I like it but Im fed up with Essex and once we have finished our house we will look to move up to Yorkshire or maybe Lincolnshire.. I really like Wiltshire around salisbury plain personally, but I think the wife would rather head north.
