This is my thread. I have all the tickets from gigs, student cards from educational institutions, video games for consoles I no longer have, games consoles I'll probably never play again, over 80 t-shirts (most of which I'll probably never wear again), jeans, up until last christmas I still had every magazine I had ever bought hehe

I realise that most of this is just junk that I would have got rid of if I didn't have the space to keep it, but I do keep things worth keeping too. I also have my very first watch, the hat I had when I was newborn, my first stuffed toy, my baby blanket, etc.
Retro video games (and consoles) are worth selling in most cases.

A few posts up, a chap has successfully sold his old tickets on the fleaBay too.

I live on my own so I can have as much carp as I like.

I don't throw anything away.

I put my wheeley bin out about 4 times per annum but I'm not filling my house up to the ceiling with tat.

My cashmere Burberry scarf that I've had since 1983, serves me well every winter. Had other scarves come and go, but that one is the best. smile

Just lots of computer cables that I'm sure will never be used again. I live in hope at the day someone comes running in from outside shouting "Quick! I need an rs232 cable its life or death .. "
How many do you need? I still use them and old 286 or lower computers for programming old commercial radios.

I have four sheds FULL of old antiquated electronics, radio and hi-fi stuff plus classic vintage computers and think about chucking it out and then think how much I paid for it all and then cannot make myself part with it.

Did I also mention a bursting loft as well?

That faded old T-Shirt was on the scene for over 20 years before I met you!

It'd be like putting a pet dog down because it farts in its sleep from time to time.
biggrin

I have quite an extensive wardrobe of "gardening clothes", mainly shirts and trousers with memories for me and not even that many holes that even I wouldn't want to be seen away from the house in.

I have a "top of the line" late model Sony Betamax recorder in a box on top of a wardrobe - it's been there for a long long time.

Almost anything.

For example I have two cardboard boxes with general "stuff" (old PDAs, cables, old keys) in them, and on top of those I have several box files containing random paper junk and stuff from the bank (that I also can't throw away, but that's a separate matter). Over time the weight of the box files and their contents has caused the boxes to collapse, so the pile was looking quite precarious. On Saturday I bought a plastic box and transferred the contents to it, so it's all nice and safe again now. But as I looked at the two cardboard boxes that had lost their structural integrity, I thought "I wonder if they'd be OK if I just filled them with regular-sized stuff like books".

I did finally manage to bin them, but I don't find it easy. Still can't get rid of an almost 12" tall stack of books on programming for Symbian, a mobile phone platform that has gone away and probably isn't coming back now its main manufacturer has been taken over by Microsoft.

Get it photographed! I reckon a lot of the stuff might be interesting to actual, real live vintage electronics enthusiasts, or even just hipsters.

A Honda 750VFR which I parked up against the wall in my garage in 2000 and have never ridden since, and never will. It was 3 year old then with 9500 miles on it.

I just can't let it go......

One day I'll need a hobby and I'll restore it to look at it a bit more!

There was a bloke on 'Salvage Hunter' on Quest the other week who had loads of that kind of stuff, he'd turned it into a business renting it out for scene dressing on films and TV series. Obviously depends on where you are in the country, but he seemed to be doing quite well. "Bob's Bits" I think it was called.

I'm a terrible hoarder and my Wife despairs.

I'll keep anything, from working car parts to odd shaped pieces of metal that I think would be useful.

A few years ago I was tidying up my garage and came across what was to all intents and purposes a brand new Vx air/con unit from an Omega that I'd disposed of. I thought, 'I'm never going to need that so chucked it in the trailer and took it to the tip.

Not two hours after I came back, my Wife pulled into the drive in her Omega with a grinding noise coming from under the bonnet.

Guess what?

And their boxes..

So many boxes of cables and interface cards that will never be used.

I have lots of things that I won't throw away that I really should. Problem is with things like computer cables and the like it's often easier to just buy a new one - even if you have three in a box in the loft....somewhere.

The plan is one day to go through it all and sort into eBay and keep piles and go from there. I have a huge amount of motorsport memorabilia collected over the years. Whilst I don't think that there is anything but sentimental value in a Wendy Wools SSCC badge and sticker, a set of Drivers Club Access medallions for the first 10 years of the Festival of Greed may be worth a tenner to someone...

Perhaps more in keeping with the thread I do still have a little briefcase with a considerable number of artistic magazines from years gone by. They're as much a part of my history as the lock of my baby hair I have hehe

Edit for some horrific typos!

No lock, but then those that would ever be likely to have had, or have, access to it would be open minded enough to either politely close and return to resting place or have a good look through themselves hehe

Oddly it was a freebe press thing from Mitsubishi Motors given to a jurno friend of the family by them on some launch with a 'survival kit' in it. Took the foam and things out of it an used them and it was at about the same time I was wondering where I should store these publications that I was starting to amass more of than was comfortable under the mattress hehe

Shame as I would bet that a complete kit would fetch a few pennies these days biggrin
