The missus mentioned last night that she thought it strange to have multiple identical items of clothing, like the many identical white shirts (I think 10+ at last count) 5/6 blue shirts along with several identical blue suits and grey suits I have - (the suit trousers might vary by waist size slightly... but same style/cloth/tailor etc).

Thing is it takes me ages to find clothes that suit me, so when I do find something I really like with a classic (non-trendy style) I get several in case they stop selling them - (like the 7/8 pairs of jeans I now have to send them off for repair when they wear out.

Anyway - back from liquid lunch and thinking - I'm not the only one who thinks/shops like that am I?...

Edited to remove non intended plug!

Ha - they were just on my mind having used them recently (and not sure them being based in US would be much use in the UK anyway)! Still just illustrating the point that decent jeans can be repaired rather than thrown out if you've grown attached to them (girl in the office mentioned a while back about 'invisible mending' after I was lamented about tearing a favorite pair, a term which I'd never heard of).

I buy the same type/style of clothing just in various colours, like you I find fit important so when I find something perfect I get it while I can.

Well I suppose the denim repairers will check their traffic and see a spike in clicks (whoop!) but then see it's coming from the UK (bugger!).
No two things of mine are alike except for shreddies. Bought a pack of 5 pairs of some really comfy boxers abroad a few years back they've been so good I'm tempted to go on holiday again to get some more.

You mean you are the shy nervous type who is petrified to step outside the envelope with fashion, for fear of public humiliation......... hehe

I was the same as a teenager, took me five years before I bought my first 'straight legged' Levis, after bell bottoms went away. paperbag

Ok yeah so there is that aspect why I tend to be picky - I used to be more of a V-shape so finding suits/shirts that fit properly was a bit of a mare. However nowadays I'm slowly turning from a V to an A shape, so I might have to bite the bullet and go shopping [shudder]

I have a confession. I have 30 polo shirts of assorted colors from a brand that is despised on Pistonheads. They just fit me better than any others. Ii do like the quality of the embroidery of the logo under close inspection as well

I used to only wear one brand of jeans. The first cost $120 and 5 years later and once the popularity had gone to crap I bought a pair for $25. Same jeans. think it shows that I'm not a brand snob though because I find a product that fits me even during my annual weight fluctuation of 2 stone

Not remotely odd. I have (at last count) six black work suits all functionally identical.

These are worn with a polo neck in winter, a T-shirt in summer. It never varies.

I'm dreadful enough as it is about getting up in the mornings. A standardised wardrobe means one less thing to have to think about.

Shoes. When I do find shoes I like I buy another pair. If they are still available eighteen months later I'll happily just go buy two more pairs.

I'm the same with clothes. I'm currently going through a phase of soft, thin knit jumpers in a multitude of greys. I also buy new shoes and have them re soled almost immediately in order not to wear them out.

I also bulk buy anything that is on offer at the supermarkets too.

Not really the thread for me. I was given a black shirt for Christmas, so the one in my cupboard will be going. I don't even own more than one white shirt, despite working in an office environment.

The only only clothes I own more than one of the same are pants, and some of my socks came in multi-packs.

Obama famously wears the same thing (almost) every day - one of several dark grey suits, white shirt, blue or red tie. One less thing to think about, he probably has enough to decide on every morning.

Steve Jobs wore the same thing every day, Mark Zuckerberg does, Einstein did. If you have a "uniform" and it works for you, why not?

Well that's talked me out of the idea completely. Depends on your company culture, personality and profession. Some companies I visit, particularly ones in very old business in traditional industries, clearly push conformity on professional staff so you’d never see something as courageous as a pinstripe or blue shirt. On the other hand in professional services (law, accountancy, financial services etc.) seem flamboyant by comparison. Agribusinesses are my favourite however because you can turn up in a swanndri, jeans and rubber boots yet still be considered one of 'em fancy city boys smile.
