So I'm into my 30's and realise I have no idea what to buy and wear. Jeans and hoodies are all I own so decided I need to expand and change a little.

Any ideas and links from fashion types.

www.cladwell.com

Go on there answer the questions and then it will create a list of clothes you require for all social circumstances. You then tick off what you own and for anything you don't it will suggest a few options so all you need to do is buy online. Certainly worked for me and one of my colleagues.

Try a website called 'thread''. You tell them what your preferences are from multiple choice. What your budget is then a stylist sends you various outfits, with options to buy, every week.

Fashionbeans is a brilliant site, definitely worth a look. Also has a forum section where plenty of people will be happy to help out.

I use Thread as well and the selection is pretty god. Lots of nice clothes and you get emailed 7 new outfit ideas a week which is pretty good and the best thing is that the service is free.

Mrs Puggit is taking me here in a few weeks - voluntarily I might add. I realise I am now 40 and also wearing clothes from a bygone era. They have completely revamped Mrs Puggit's wardrobe (and they don't sell clothes!).

Same, especially when everything of a similar type is scattered all around the whole floor. Just put the same items in the same place!

Don't forget the shoes...

Also, invest in a leather briefcase that will last for many years, and elevate your outfit.

Thomas Pink for some decent shirts.
Sunspel for classic T-shirts and Polos.
Smedley for fine gauge knitwear. Superb merino jumpers and shirts.

Find a decent menswear retailer and listen to their advice. They know stuff.
I'd tried several of the chains and 'popular' retailers before settling on a knowledgable and helpful independent. I found Gabucci in Bath to be very helpful and transformed what I wear.

Online websites that email you 7 outfits a week roflNo wonder we have so many "my wife left me" type threads

Op if you are a standard size and want to play it safe just go down to your local Zara, h&m, massimo dutti, Cos type places and get relatively normal looking stuff. Then get to m&s and buy 1 navy and 2 dark grey suit with two trousers each Zara will do nice looking shoes and trainers but won't last forever.

No point spending loads on designer stuff unless you gave am eye for it, otherwise will end up with same old stuff at a higher price.

Shoes without laces are the strict preserve of the Italians or car salesmen.

Except of course if it's a double monk strap like the image. Probably the best looking shoe design there is.

The most important thing is a good pair of shoes, the first thing a lot of people will look at first is your footwear and it can say a lot about you.
