Go on there answer the questions and then it will create a list of clothes you require for all social circumstances. You then tick off what you own and for anything you don't it will suggest a few options so all you need to do is buy online. Certainly worked for me and one of my colleagues.

Try a website called 'thread''. You tell them what your preferences are from multiple choice. What your budget is then a stylist sends you various outfits, with options to buy, every week.
I use Thread as well and the selection is pretty god. Lots of nice clothes and you get emailed 7 new outfit ideas a week which is pretty good and the best thing is that the service is free. http://www.houseofcolour.co.uk/
Mrs Puggit is taking me here in a few weeks - voluntarily I might add. I realise I am now 40 and also wearing clothes from a bygone era. They have completely revamped Mrs Puggit's wardrobe (and they don't sell clothes!).

Online websites that email you 7 outfits a week No wonder we have so many "my wife left me" type threads
Op if you are a standard size and want to play it safe just go down to your local Zara, h&m, massimo dutti, Cos type places and get relatively normal looking stuff. Then get to m&s and buy 1 navy and 2 dark grey suit with two trousers each Zara will do nice looking shoes and trainers but won't last forever.
No point spending loads on designer stuff unless you gave am eye for it, otherwise will end up with same old stuff at a higher price.

Don't forget the shoes...
Shoes without laces are the strict preserve of the Italians or car salesmen. The most important thing is a good pair of shoes, the first thing a lot of people will look at first is your footwear and it can say a lot about you.
