There was a follow up thread on reddit a few years ago where someone had bumped into them (actually got caught taking photos of them to upload to reddit) at an airport and the couple confirmed they hadn't started the thread themselves.

One of my favourites was the stolen Skyline in Canada, nicked and driven around by some idiot dubbed 'The Claw' due to his deformed hand, and a load of the forum members visited the thief's home, boxed him in, had him arrested and got the car back. Brilliant

Member see's car, gets photo of thief (a juvenile with two missing fingers on one hand) but loses sight. Another member see's car at theif's house.

king pages of this the bloke who's car it is goes down there with another guy and they call the police, who turn up and arrest the guy.At which point the site erupts into an even bigger frenzy of self congratulary back slapping for all the things they could have done.
It's basically Pistonheads, but with more whooping!
