Has anyone in the history of the world ever had a USB stick damaged because they did not eject it properly?
It's not the thought of losing data that makes me click the "eject" menu thing, it's not wanting the lecture from Windows if I have the audacity to remove it without doing.droopsnoot said:

I'm sure Windows used to go funny if you did this. You would put the stick back in the same port and it would not be recognised. However, slot it back into a different port and it would be fine.mrtwisty said:
Why is there a 130 page thread about one film? (Prometheus)
Much anticipated prequel to a much loved franchise that was talked about for years before it was finally shat out into the laps of an unsuspecting public, many many pages of people remarking about just how bad it was - sort of a support group for us. Add 40-50 pages more when it was released for home viewing, then it died for a bit.The sequel is out in May, rather than a whole new thread the old one is being reused plus add in a couple of pages of general chat about Alien/Aliens and a possible sequel to the originals in 2018 and it's a big thread.
There's a 180 page thread on a silly US sitcom on E4 too.

Why do cheap hotel finding websites insist on emailing every 3 days to ask if I want to return to small towns I visited on business 3 years ago? It's not like I'm suddenly going to think: 'Yes I will go to Solihull this weekend, what a great idea, it's been too long'
Yes I have frequent special hotel bargain offers for the 76 visits to Bruges that this particular bookings website thinks I should be doing per annum. It's starting to get desperate now, recommending special deals for Manchester hotel weekends. ( 7 miles up the road from my home )
Has a UXB ever exploded in the UK in recent years (or ever)?
It seems to be regular news they are found in and around London, yet you never hear of one exploding. One was found yesterday by a mechanical digger so it must have received quite a battering (you can see the marks on it) yet remained intact. Everyone is then evacuated whilst they do things described as a 'major operation'. Other quotes from the article: "Police said the operation was expected to last overnight with local residents unable to return home."
"Nearby junior and infants schools evacuated hundreds of pupils and homes in the area were cleared too."
The other one in Jan was hit by a dredger before causing huge problems and this is after it was originally dropped out of the sky and didn't explode.
I know you have to be safe, but do wonder if a lot of time and money could be saved if two blokes just picked it up, put it in a softly lined box and took it off somewhere safe.....

semi-regular in Germany, a digger driver was killed a year or two ago
technically, I believe all bombs that explode were once unexploded bombs
In this country? There is one of my points, if it's been smacked with a digger or dredger etc and survived, just pick it up and cart it away.technically, I believe all bombs that explode were once unexploded bombs

yeah, the digger was blown up
thing is what if they can't even be picked up without falling apart?
the explosives and the fuses can still be very much capable of going boom
also UK had roughly 20% of the bombs dropped that Germany got in the end, plus none of the really big ones (they had no heavy bombers) which would bury themselves deep
the V2s would have been of great interest and wouldn't have been left in the ground (if indeed they did penetrate at all)
just this past xmas 54,000 people were moved out of their homes in Augsburg for a 1.8 tonne bomb
couple of years ago in Koblenz too, massive incendiary bomb actually in the river, tens of thousands of people moved out of the way

Say what?amount of bombs dropped on UK vs dropped on Germany
UK number is 20% of German number
so there are less in Britain, that was my point, hence stuff from WW2 exploding nowadays would occur less often
