What did CJS see that made him feel guilty when he didn't report it?

Currently on holiday and the river boats in Bangkok ( James Bond MWTGG stylie) have always had me puzzled. Why do they have such a long propshaft ? Other outboards have a 90 degree elbow, surely that's a better packaging. They certainly don't need to worry about shallow waters on this river.
Think it also has to do with avoiding the ubiquitous river weed. Standard prop would get tangled. Oh and also because they are very cool. Those things shift too. Have had a few fun trips up the river then them.

Bubbles in fizzy drinks, why do they seem to appear out of the bottom of the glass?

They form around tiny particles on the glass

Might be wrong about this but my early internet memories had people going insane because st from bats had found it's way into their food chain and turned them all mental.

So Batst insane really refers to people who have eaten batst and gone mad as a result.

Excellent! I hadn't thought that glass might not be as smooth as it appears. Thanks thumbup

Quite a few lager glasses have etched bottoms to keep the beer fizzing by creating a rough surface.

They deliberately make rough patches in the bottom of a glass - for keeping lager fizzy.
Not a new idea..

Probably been done somewhere in here before but these things fixed under train platforms.

Obviously some kind of measurement to the track maybe? But that slider thing, what's that all about and there seems to be one every few metres, are they on the side of the track when the platform finishes as well?

If so there must be thousands of the things up and down the country.

I asked that question on here before, I even posted a pic I took out a train window, can't remember the full answer but it was something about a datum point, I didn't fully understand the answer if I am honest.

Replacing a fuse in the boot of my Volvo S80, and noticed this laying on the floor, this was visible when I lowered the interior trim.

I have had the car from when it was 2 1/2 years old from a main dealer, ex demonstrator.

Any idea what it's for?

6 disc changer connection IIRC. I had a C70 that had 3dic changer in the Head unit and 6 disc changer in the in the boot.

Assuming earth gravity, how many one penny pieces could you balance end on end before the weight deformed the one at the bottom?

1.
It will deform elastically in proportion to the compression force up to the material's yield point.

Given babies put everything in their mouths, if you took one to the beach would it eat sand?

It would (will!) put sand in its mouth, probably not "eat" as such.
