Composite Door
Discussion
Looking to replace a rear PVC crap door, going with the recommended RockDoors but staggered by the quotes coming in, can I get a PH sense check or if anyone is in the trade that can verify the pricing ?
looking at a Vermont Ultimate range with Bar handle in grey with frosted glass, quotes are ranging from 1500 - 1800 quid from local or national installers fitted.
Opening is standard size

I've had a Solidor fitted and would recommend it. Maybe worth a look as an alternative?
RockDoor and Solidor are at least solid fill composite doors. The vast majority seem not to be.
If you haven't ordered a new door already, then I definitely second what Matt says here - we had a Solidor fitted a couple of years ago and it is absolutely superb. Great styles and colours (and has the added benefit to me of being made in what used to be my home town!!). It was much cheaper than other 'lesser' doors, too.RockDoor and Solidor are at least solid fill composite doors. The vast majority seem not to be.
My work often involves breaking up composite doors that are being replaced. Some are just a piece of insulation foam faced with plastic, and can be smashed to pieces in seconds. Every now and again I come across a door that I can't even puncture, and weighs an absolute tonne and have to use a chainsaw instead.
So when at the showroom, see if you can literally pick up the door. If its as light as a feather then walk away.

we had a solidor fitted a couple of months ago, very impressed with itGot a rock door - ordered it through Gap, should be here today or Monday and fitted next week.
Door cost 900inc vat for their Vermont from the ultimate range with bar handle / frosted glass etc, fitting by local joiner
Certainly beats the quotes we had - cheapest was 1700 !!! For same door.

Sorry for the thread resurrection....Do you have to be trade to order through GAP or will they sell to general public? I am trying to design my door on the site, but it needs me to sign up. Also what was the price to have this door fitted if you don't mind me asking?
Tony
You can buy direct and arrange your own fitting. I would personally ask them for a preferred fitter (they will give you more than one name) and price up through them as you won't save much if anything doing it yourself. They will also be responsible for registering and the required regs/issues with the door.
Door cost depends on furniture chosen and the glass etc .....top of the range is still circa £1k fitted.

Thought i would tag onto this thread instead of starting a new one.
We're having a composite front door fitted, chosen company, highly recommended local firm etc.
We've got a quote for a Stop Door for just over £1k, or a solidor for £200 more.
Both look pretty much the same, but the Stop Door is a foam structure with GRP coating, the Solidor is timber structure with 'thermal plastic' coating.
Is the Solidor worth the £200 extra? I'm thinking yes tbh, thoughts?
