Your not able to load the car yourself they have to bring it out from the storage area, it was my first experiance using click and collect OH's great idea. Your shopping is ment to be brought out in 5 mins not 40. And as for not complaining I just got £50 off next shop as they agreed it was unacceptable

How far north? There is a distribution warehouse in Stockport now I think. Mine comes from the Staffs warehouse.
I've used Ocado weekly for about 3 years and have had only one failed delivery due to a warehouse issue. I was refunded a months smart pass and given a voucher. They are bloody brilliant.

Not only that, but they're missing out on all the impulse purchases that people would normally make while walking around the store. My missus doing online shopping is probably saving me a small fortune.

I nearly quit when my smart pass went up, I emailed them and had a moan and they offered me 3 months free and a weekday pass at a much reduced rate. I gave them a miss one week and went to Tesco, not something I've ever felt the need to repeat.

The poster above is right, I spend a lot less online than in the shop. I tend to get drawn in with offers or just fancy chocolate etc. I can settle down with a cuppa and a biscuit and a rough idea of the weeks meals. I can check if I've already got the EU butter mountain in my fridge. My instore spend for 3 of us (1 teen at home) was roughly £80 a week. Online it varies from £40 to £60 and I usually find I only shop 3 out of 4 weeks because I've got enough in for the last week of the month.

Very true. Now she's back to work after maternity leave I think we might start it up again. But only Ocado, wouldn't consider anyone else. Tesco ALWAYS had crap substitutions (mainly on the wine choices. No, I don't fancy Black Tower instead of my Finest Viognier) and Waitrose never had anything in stock.

Also had many times when a specific product like gluten free bread wasn't available so they just bunged a loaf of normal bread in there, no common sense at all!

At least the substitutes are only ever the same price (if it's a more expensive item) or cheaper (if it's a cheaper item), you won't get charged any extra for a substitute.

There was one guy who used to order veg oil, to run his old diesel car on, and the quantity he ordered wasn't available, so to get the quantity up the pickers substituted all kinds of expensive olive oil in there!
My favourite substitute I've seen (Tesco delivery driver) was a pregnancy test for some condoms.

Talking of sanitary towels. Delivered some shopping to a middle aged women. One of the subs was some different tampons. I'm told 'Oh I can't have them, they aren't absorbent enough...I think when she saw the look on my face she had told me too much!

We use Tesco's never really have any issues but if we do a quick email explaining and they refund the item with no quibble.

So did the shopping turn up?

I suspect another case of poor shopper rather than poor shop.

Tesco never showed up but only told us once the delivery had been missed (driver shortage), whereas Sainsbury did random substitution roulette (we were out of merlot so we've given you an onion instead)

Works backwards for me. When we go for a fortnightly shop at Sainsburys I work out how much booze and luxuries we (I) need (want) for the coming fortnight. Theres usually a bottle of spirits, mixers, 2 cases of beer, delicious meats, fancy meal kits, nice cheeses and all sorts. Shopping is paid for by Mrs Paolow (some bills are hers, some mine) so she quickly realised that by leaving me at home or not having me there doing an online shop she literally halved her bill frown
We have our shopping delivered by Sainsburys (which is excellent I might add - good friendly drivers and very, very few subs) and she now gets the basics with me stopping off when necessary at the superstore for niceties.
As I am on foot I can only carry so much which limits my spend which helps - but I still lose out by her shopping online.
That said we do avoid having a hungover shop at the weekend with all the carpark fun it goes along with - so its well worth it even if it does cost me...

It's a market the supermaarkets should never have entered imo. Loss leading to the max but they are in and commited now. Iceland's model is the est imo. you shop instore then have it delivered.

We ordered a pack of 3 kitchen rolls and ended up with 6 packs of three for free. As the delivery man says, 'if it's in your box it's yours whether you ordered it or not'.

Any problems I have had I email, and get a refund every time. Dented carton, 1 smashed egg etc. an email and it's free.

I did think Tesco had a better range though, but maybe that is due to the size of the local store.

Well yes the shopping did turn up. I got nowhere with the South African call centre as usual so I phoned the store at Dyce. They got back to me a few minutes later to say there was no trace of my order number on their system. Finally they worked out that since my previous delivery two weeks ago, my postcode had been reallocated to the Peterhead store for home deliveries. They got Peterhead to phone me and they explained the computer system had gone mental which was why the delivery was marked as already delivered but in fact it was still scheduled and would arrive.

It got here right on time. 5 substitutions as usual but none that fussed me greatly. The computer system failure had also knocked out the electronic pad things you sign so it was back to bits of paper for now. The drivers always do their best but apparently with bugger all thanks or support from the company.

Something I found out at the last delivery. You get this email from Asda's system telling you whether the delivery is going to be in the first hour or the second hour of the 2 hour delivery slot so you know more exactly when to be in. The drivers don't even get told of this! They have no idea when to turn up other than sometime during the 2 hours.

The call centre must be the worst I've ever had to deal with. They never know anything about any order and every call ends with them saying they'll phone the store and then get back to me. It would save Asda a lot of money if they ditched the call centre and let people phone the stores direct on an 0800 number.

Thats what we do. Some poor sod staples a leaflet on every receipt with the number for Dot Com direct. Yes its good that you can speak to someone who can sort it out there and then, but at the same time it stops complaints being recorded, so head office think we are doing brilliantly and give us more work when we are struggling already.

Why keep using Asda if you've had 3 months of bad deliveries?

I use Tesco and largely they are ok. Maybe one or two substitutions a month, and most of them are an upgrade for me. A few times they've cocked up my click & collect and fairly quickly I get a discount voucher and delivered home instead.

All their call centres seem to be UK based too, which is always a bit nicer to deal with.

We use Sainsburys online and they seem to be very good and reliable. There are hardly any substitutions and on the rare occasion that something has a short shelf life, they tell you about it on the receipt. They also check the eggs on the doorstep to make sure that they are intact. Any substitution that you don't want, goes back with the van and a refund issued automatically.

The packing can be a bit odd though - some bags contain one tiny item, others are bursting at the seams. Some things aren't in bags at all, some weeks you are left with dozens of them.

Our one and only try with Tesco they tried to deliver our shopping to Top Street in a town 15 miles away.

It was late so they took it back and a made a special trip (out of their area) the next day with a box of choc's. Unfortunately they left a bag in the van and had to come back again....

We've only just got into home deliveries. Started with Waitrose, first delivery was absolutely terrible - loads of stuff with only one or two days and some key items out of stock (fresh minced beef, really?), fresh chicken had one day left on it. Driver turned up an hour late having called and told us he was running 10 mins late. Complained and was basically told sorry that's how they do things, but begrudgingly we'll refund the chicken this time as a good will gesture - "fk you you moaning bd" in other words. So I returned the favour and fked them off and we have been using Sainsburys instead. They are much better, hardly any substitutions and always fresh stuff. Drivers are super-friendly. Will never use Waitrose delivery again.

So I'd say if Asda are crap, try another supermarket.
