What annoys me is that people still seem to believe it's white and gold even though it has been proven it is in fact blue and black.
But the debate isn't on what colour the dress *is*, it is on what colour people *see*.

The company who makes the dress has confirmed it's blue and black.

Do you get annoyed at people who describe the sky as blue when really it's black but only looks blue?

Ok, my post was worded badly.

It annoys me that people refuse to believe that the dress is in fact, blue and black.
They refuse to believe that it is the lighting in the picture that makes the dress look white and gold.

I can't see black and blue at all - yes the white has a blue tint because of the camera's "white balance", but is otherwise white, and the gold is definitely gold!

I saw white and gold. Then i tilted my laptop screen right back to view at an oblique angle, and it turns black/blue.

I suspect a lot of this is down to the inability of digital cameras to accurately reflect colours.

This plant pot is - I swear - purple:

Every attempt, with several cameras, has it looking blue.

The real colour is like this:

that also looks purple on my calibrated IPS CAD screen :-)

I have tried every way to make that dress go from the gold to black in photoshop, it's gold, it matters not what the real colour of the dress is just what the picture is as the white balance is clearly out, hence why most of use see the blue tint on the white, but the gold is gold.

Am I missing something? They're identical - it's the same dress, just one is on a hanger, the other is on a woman

Can someone please confirm that those of us (a minority it would seem) who see the dress as blue and black are vastly superior beings wthat those "white and gold" jerks? hehe

but this is a sample of the two colours in photoshop of the gold part and the black part
computers don't lie or change colours and they are not colour blind.

do you see these as the same colour ? if you see the left square as a gold/brown and not black that is what the left picture is FACT lol

Just to prove how relative it all is, the dress looks pale blue & dark gold on my PC monitor and blue & black on my phone. And white & gold on my tablet.

There are no absolutes.

So those seeing black and blue have their screen brightness set too low, or are squinting!

Came here, saw the thread, saw the OP, dress is clearly gold and white.

Went to Telegraph, hello, someone's doctored the pic, dress is clearly blue and black.

Came back here to comment - saw the OP, dress in now blue and black!

I can't see anything other than black and blue, albeit over exposed and the sun shining on parts giving a bronze effect to it.

The blue however, is clearly blue, not the remotest part near white.

We aren't seeing it as exactly the same, that would be crazy, however the picture on the left is clearly an overexposed, crappy camera pic of the dress on the right, ie: black and blue. Just like the differences between these two pics, although appearing different shades, are clearly the same colour and would appear identical in real life.

Right, this is getting strange. All morning it has been white and gold, now it looks blue and black.

What's happened to me in a lunch break?

the op asked "what colour is this dress" not "what colours do you see". And it has been established that the physical dress blue and black. So anyone saying it is anything other than blue and black is wrong.

however, if the question was what colours do you see, no honest answer is wrong.

This. It's obviously black and blue. Just because the actual hex value is gold/white/whatever doesn't mean it's not. Your brain should be automatically taking into account the crappy, washed out, badly lit image, surely? Maybe the people thinking the dress is white and gold have all had a knock on the head...
