I once heard "Take 10 extras and a £750 donation to a charity of my choice" Possibly my least favourite army quote!!

Back on topic

"We the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have done so much, with so little, for so long, we are now qualified to do anything, with nothing." - Konstantin Josef Jireček . Jireček was a Czech historian, politician, and diplomat, and a Slav scholar.

I knew an old soldier who told about acronyms used in WW2.

LDV (Local Defence Volunteers, later the Home Guard) 'Look, Duck and Vanish'.

RASC (Royal Army Service Corps) 'Run Away, Someone's Coming'.

I thought these were great. Anyone have more?

In the late 80's and early 90's (old sweats looking way back) SNAFU and FUBAR were used quite a lot. Yes they originated from the cousins across the pond but we certainly used them a plenty.
