Sort of on topic, reminds me of when a mate used to work for Sainsburys.

In the run up to one of the D-Day memorial weekends once, his manager was convinced that there would be a huge run on barbeque stuff on the D-Day weekend. His reasoning was that, due to the nice weather, everyone would celebrate / remember with a barbecue. Hence, he over-ordered massively on all related stock.

After the weekend, it became clear that no-one else thought the same way, and the stock room was so chocka with unsold produce, that it was difficult to even get in there.

Presently, someone affixed a sign to the door thus:

"Never in the field of retail was so much ordered by so few for such little point..."
