Cilla Black, vile, pompous, stuck up cow.
Interesting you say that. I didn't meet her but was talking to someone the other day who had (meets quite a few 'names' because of their job) and unprompted brought her up and said "vile, pompous stuck up cow". Word for word!!
I remember reading a woman saying she asked for her autograph (on a Tuesday) and she replied "I don't give autographs on Tuesdays"....biggrin

Although to be fair, if you are approached many times a day, even when shopping in Tesco it must wear you down. She would have had fifty odd years of it.

I met Ronnie Wood @ chiswick petrol station

I was looking at him because he was acting sheepish then realised who it was, pointed my finger and he acknowledged me with a "yes its me" nod.

His wife (who i thought was his daughter) was getting water for their dog and offered to take a photo of us. I didnt outstay my welcome but he seemed very normal.

It such a shame i was so fat at the time because otherwise i would have the picture framed somewhere.

Keith Flint - The Prodigy.

Mental and scary on stage, lovely bloke in person.

He came to a track day at the ring a few years ago that missus A was working at. Took her for a few laps in his Fiat 500 Abarth, he also arranged for her to have four back stage passes for Rock am Ring where they were also playing.

I was chatting with him in the ring car park and we were admiring a race prepped Ferrari, Keith looked typically scruffy in his camo parka and jeans. The owner of the Ferrari sauntered up to us and spoke to us like we were dirt, a proper knobhead. Keith looked at me and, smiled and said, what a tosser. biggrin

Sad loss.
one of my mates met him at a bike trackday back in the late 90's (so at the height of their fame) and said he was very humble. Only recognised him because of his mad hair, otherwise he was just another bike nutcase.

I was on that track day, think we did Spa the following day too.
Then you'll probably also know of the ignorant pig with the Ferrari wink

Mrs A went for a lap with him as well and he nearly lost it at ExMühle, it wasn't until they came back in that we realised she'd been for a lap with him, she got a proper telling off for that biggrin
can't blame her for seeking a husband upgrade!! wink

Jon Bentley - Really nice chap, very switched on and bright - spoke to him about his work on Fifth Gear/Top Gear.
A guy I know via Facebook had JB and his team in his house visiting his son for The Gadget Show once - something to do with gaming competitions (this lad is a bit of a wiz at some game or other). Said JB was a very very nice guy and very chatty.

This is going to sound terrible if it's someone off here but I don't recall any Ferrari drivers-I've usually enough to think about at track days! To be honest, even with KF, it was more a case of my mate saying "who's this guy?!" as he stood out so much. I wondered the same but when he walked past the car I recognised him. I wouldn't have said he looked scruffy-his very casual camouflage outfit had a very expensive label.

To be honest, my first thought was who would wear that expensive clobber to a track day before clocking him and thinking to myself-a rock star!

I did actually get her autograph. Not sure what day of the week but it was at a theme park where she must've been on some kids' charity do and thus would have to have been a bit more approachable.

When I was an electrician and worked in Oxford every day, we used to quite often see them filming Inspector Morse. John Thaw and the crew walked past the site we were working in and one of the lads said hello and he stopped for about 5 mins for a chat. Very nice bloke.

Worked behind the bar in my local pub and served Edward Heath, very nice bloke, polite and paid for his own drinks.

Walking through Harrods on the way to a meeting and a lady was walking towards me. It was quite early, it hadn’t been open very long so there weren’t many people around. I noticed this huge black dude walking about 3 steps behind her and thought “ that’s strange” when me and the lady ended up face to face (within “kissing” distance) and we both did that thing where you step the same way a couple of times and ended up still face to face. We both smiled and apologised and walked off our separate ways. It was about 10 mins later when the penny dropped and I realised it was Kylie!

Met Renee Zellwegger when she was over filming Bridget Jones Edge of Reason, she visited my Mrs Markee’s beauty salon for some treatment one evening. Lovely, lovely person.

Sat next to Denise Van Outen on the tube one day, didn’t realise it was her until my mate nudged me and told me when she got off.

I was in Barcelona a while ago, not for the GP but it was on that weekend. We were in a restaurant sitting outside eating when Rubens Barrichello, Felipe Massa and Roberto Carlos walked in with their entourages. Massa had won that day. There were lots of young groupies around who weren't allowed near them but I asked Rubens' wife if it was OK to say hello (she was nearest), she asked him and he said yes, so I had my photo taken with Rubens and Felipe, they were really nice and friendly, it was one of their friends who suggested he take the photo.

Not bothered about football smile

Totally relate to that - Rubens was at a junior race we were watching once (probably F3) and he was saying how he missed the ‘real racing’ of those times. Nice guy and signed my book - winner!

c.20 years ago an ex bumped into Ewan McGregor. She immediately thought she knew him but didn't immediately recognise him. She launched into chat.. "how are you?"...."any news?"......"I haven't seen you in ages"...etc. He stood there fully engaged answering her questions as if he knew her. About 30 seconds in she froze as recognition was realised. She was mortified but he was totally charming about the whole thing. Happens all the time apparently.

Off topic but I remember when he was on a chat show (Grahma Norton type thing) many years ago and he was talking about when he did alot of the bike touring with his mate around the world; there was a TV series.

Anyway this was after the Star Wars re-boot where he played a younger Obi-Wan, they went to where the original Star Wars was filmed, where there were those houses that were built in the rock in the desert; Morocco maybe, anyway it was a big Star Wars fan hot spot due to the filming that happened there.

He was most dissapointed as no one recognised him, it was quite funny.

have you seen Tonk Hawk's twitter page? he tweets about these kind of things all the time. people saying how he looks familiar, or looks like tony hawk etc..

One of his tweets mentions him renting a car, but his application got cancelled, when he went into the hire place to find out why they thought the application was a joke and just someone putting a random name on it so they cancelled it.

Happens a lot. If you have the same name as someone on the Politically Exposed Persons list it's a right pain the neck, we had a customer called Tony Blair who was constantly jumping through ID hoops smile

A friend of ours bought a BMW M5 which was delivered to their flat in London. The driver turned out to be Ewan McGregor’s dad, who did delivery driving to pass the time in retirement. Also with him was Ewan himself...they were on a dad and son boys trip.

Our friends had great photos of their newborn bouncing on Ewan’s knee.

Walking down the stairs in the Hong Kong Cricket Club, things on my mind and just looking where I was going, I was aware that someone was coming up the stairs. at the bottom of the stairs I looked up, there was Boycott, arms outstretched like he was on the Cross, he looked down at me and said,'Dear me, dont you recognise me?'
