Damien Lewis during the time when Homeland was seemingly the only TV anyone was ever talking about.
He was in a pub with his kids and people kept asking him for his autograph which he politely declined over and over again as he was with his kids. Our boy was a similar age to his and they played together for a few mins and we had a quick chat about the japes in parenting toddlers
Seemed a genuine down to earth guy

Were you in Romsey? He shops in Waitrose.

I was talking to a colleague about Cleo Rocos at lunchtime.
I can't even recall why! laugh Anyway, I met her by chance in Canary Wharf a couple of years ago. She was as stunning as I recalled from my teens, and very friendly.
Sat with Cleo at a party back in 2003 and then was in a car that gave her a lift to a railway station, lovely woman. Was out with a mate that night, said to him 'I recognise that woman from somewhere', he wanders over: 'My mate thinks he recognises you!'. Eeek! She comes over and says 'hello, your friend says we know each other'! Long chat about her earlier life, Kenny Everett and the Ms Whiplash stuff.

Although when I say any member, there is one who he really doesn’t like and isn’t popular with any of the staff. Don’t think it’s hard to guess who.
Male or female?
Do they clock up a lot of air miles?
A certain American I should imagine.
Yep that would be the one.

He doesn’t travel a massive amount as he is primarily assigned to one of the quieter members of the family. Still travels a lot by any normal standard. Does lots of cool stuff turns up tells you he has been on big yacht of the coast of Scotland for the last week. Which must be terrible.

I was at Race Retro a few years ago and Ari Vatenan was walking around with an old friend and colleague of his,a Boreham mechanic.
I asked him to sign a Group B rally book I had and he was very nice.
He also immediately recognized Bjorn Waldegaard's signature that had been signed few years before ,then deceased.

A very 'brief encounter' I will always treasure came when I was marshalling a BTCC event at Brands Hatch. I had my early teenage son with me, and one of his schoolmates. We were walking along the little road that goes from the back of the pits towards the tunnel that gives access to the paddock, when I noticed Deryk Warwick walking towards us.

I gave the boys a nudge to draw their attention that a famous ex-F1 driver was about to pass us, but I didn't manage it as subtly as I might, as he obviously noticed, and I saw him grin at my embarrassment, as I mouthed the word 'sorry' at him.

As we got close, he looked over and gave us all a very cheery good morning, as if he had been a mate of mine for years. My lad and his friend looked at eachother, and then me, obviously thinking, my God, this guy knows all the famous racing drivers.

What a lovely thing to do.

Due to working at various places and through motorsport and music I have met loads of famous/celeb type people.
Some really stick in the memories.
Sir Stirling Moss , we used to service the electric blinds in his flat in Mayfair. He was aways very pleasant.
Pat Moss Carllson , lovely lady .
Huw Johns ( Titchfield Thunderbolt) dressed in a nightshirt and on the gin at 9 am
Tanner Foust on his first Rallycross at Lydden, spent 30 mins explaining the points system to him and his manager, was given their business cards and told to get in touch if ever I got over to the USA ( unlikely)
Steven Spielberg at Rank film Labs , got him a shaded parking space, very pleasant and friendly .
Robert Hardy , just a stroppy little man .
Roy Wood , picked him up from the station when he collected a car that he bought off one of our customers. Very down to earth and enjoyed the banter .

True though. Albeit some of them do some rather incredible things many of us just can't. But they're not Gods...

I met Louise Wener from 90’s indie band Sleeper on Sunday after a gig in Reading.

She’s in her 50’s now but still rocks the indie pin up look, was utterly charming and made me go weak at my 46yo knees.

Also met the guitarist Jon who, after chatting loads about the Britpop scene and how the NME hated them asked me to be his Facebook friend, which was great!

Doofus, nobody wants to fart like you, because you have absolutely no sphincter control. rolleyes You may be able to cover four octaves, but beyond that it all turns to st.

One of the guys on our nightshift could manage 5 octaves and a further 3 semi-tones without following through.
Now that was impressive.

Sadly he passed away a few years ago, but memories of him still linger on.

Indeed not.

What does surprise me though is when a famous person is described as a 'good bloke', as if we are all expecting a monster.

I've been deeply moved by some of the stories that have emerged from the recent veneration of Keanu Reeves.

There are tons along of the lines of 'I passed Keanu on the freeway and he didn't swerve at me' or 'Keanu looked at me from a passing train and I think his eyes were smiling'.

Jude Law, wandering through Venice on his way to a shoot. Mrs A ran after him like some total physco and once she caught him up, said, 'are you Jude Law, my mum loves you'. laugh

Lovely chap, not only did he not run away from the mad woman, he even posed for a picture with her Fuggler.

Said Fuggler was so chuffed afterwards he had to have a spliff to calm himself down cool
