Please do stop using JLP and leave them to the rest of us with manners.

As others have said impeccable service. When my TV broke they even offerd to loan me one and apologised it would be a bit smaller.

Those crazy nasty bds rolleyes

I've bought a lot of stuff from JLP. Things sometimes go wrong but they have been impeccable in sorting it. Last year I bought a Mac Book Pro for my daughter just after the new model was released. It was promised to de available on a Saturday and my Daughter was going to Uni on the Monday morning. Apple let them down and when we went to collect it on the Saturday it wasn't there. We were disappointed. Next morning (Sunday) the Manager of the store turns up at our house and hand delivers the computer with s bunch of flowers, a £50 JLP vouchers and an apology.

The TV should have been off the wall ready for them when they came to collect.

Not lending them a screwdriver is rude. They would have had no reason to expect to need one.

Comments about the hard disk are bizarre. It should have been removed from the TV before it was collected. Having said that, if it's been attached anywhere near the wifi antenna it could be relevant as to why it is not working as expected.

I am going for "user error" on the wifi issue.

Please keep us posted when the TV is returned

I quite like John Lewis, always resolved problems and gone beyond what I would consider good customer service.

Has someone "hacked" Low Drags account? Doesn't sound like him.

I bought a large electrical item from John Lewis a couple of months back. They refunded £50 when I found it cheaper elsewhere the next week.

I bought a bag from them in November. One of the metal clasps sheared. They sent a courier to collect it and refunded me in full.

Am I doing this right?
No, you forgot to mention what newspaper you write for.

If the wifi was a usb dongle, then the hdu could indeed be drawing too much power from the tv.
O/p why do you think JL are responsible for removing the tv off the wall?

When my tv stopped working JL sent two men along who took it off the wall after they checked it was not working and put it in a special carry bag designed to protect tv's.
They bought it back two weeks later with a new PSU fitted. Top service from them.

recorded conversation? telegraph journalist?

I sense one of those daily mail esque stories featuring a slightly plump, indignant looking lady sat all skewiff in her expensive kitchen moaning about a problem only afflicting the upper middle class....

all we need now is a tenuous link as to how this evil big retailer robbed her of £18k a year for school fees and she now feels bad having to throw away and replace new her le creuset casserole every time her miele dishwasher (bought when JL were the go to store for the upper middle classes) fails to clear the crusty build up created by her Friday night organic veal stew.

Well that's unfortunate. Maybe it's you? I learnt a long time ago to be extra nice to people in a customer service role. Especially those poor bds on the phone. Iv tended to have any problems solved and often cheered the operator up in the past.

This is one of those threads that didn't go the way the OP intended.

I am guessing the people collecting the tv were purely couriers, they don't usually have to carry tools around to remove fitted items as they're purely for collection and delivery of items (plus losing in the case of some hehe )

Hmmm...our extended family used to use them a lot. We found they do what they need to, nothing more, nothing less.

Most recent was a vacuum cleaner which, although JL apparently warrant all electrical stuff for 2yrs, didn't apply to the one my daughter got off a wedding list. It failed at 16mths old but had only been in use for a few mths.

JL first hid behind the wedding list, then just resorted to "prove it had a manufacturing defect from new". Eventually I called the manufacturer and they sent someone out to fix it FOC.

I could list half-a-dozen similar things, where strictly speaking they've done nothing wrong but they could have been more helpful.

Perhaps wait for the story in the paper?

OP, why did your daughter not have the TV off the wall ready for collection?
