Do kids still ride bikes?
Discussion
My 21 year old, used his bike all the time, from a young age and still uses it to get to work despite having a car.
He's just bought himself a decent bike, having had various second hand one's I kept picking up off the work intranet classified for buttons, which he kept getting stolen. He seems to have spent more on the lock than the last one cost me.
The 18 year old, can't abide cycling and would rather walk. We once went out for a family bike ride, and she got wet (aged 12) and the barely used bike has been in the shed ever since. (with her mothers bike)

Seen a few on BMX's round my way. Look like they don't know how the seat post works, the seat is sitting on the frame and they cycle standing up. Must be a fashion thing.
BMX's are not for sitting. http://www.raleighburner.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?...

When I had a BMX they had a seat to sit on, when you rode them anywhere.

I had a chrome burner with spoke wheels. Weighed a ton, always wanted mag wheels.
Yeh - my Super Burner had spoke wheels. A mate had the blue and yellow Tuff burner with mag wheels. There was an urban legend about them that if you cracked them - all you had to do was put them in the freezer and the cracks would heal! Don't know where that came from - it's a little bizzare.
I knew a lad who got a Raleigh Vektar for Christmas - probably the most coveted bike at the time.

On the subject of using MTBs regularly. One of my colleagues does a 5 mile (each way) road commute on a mountain bike in all weathers. He uses his road bike for his weekend "long" runs of 20+ miles.
So do I. I have a roadie but it hasn't been out since about October, the vast majority of my riding is on one of my MTBs. Commuting on the MTB gives me the option to go offroad on the way home...Moonhawk said:

I remember the urban legend with tuff's was if they were buckled you put them in the freezer to make them true again.
When My son was 10 and into his teens he rode these around the village to his mates. It got so they all got hold of various versions of them and met up to chat and "hop" around. He had Magura Brakes were so powerful they flexed the frame. Meant buying Brake "Boosters", frames to support the calipers.

Well, there are a couple of girls riding up and down the road. I've just mounted the M95 on the window sill...
Is that a camera..? Can't recall days of riding my bike through folks' gardens - then again I was taught manners and a bit of respect when I was growing up.
