Emailing David Cameron is like shouting at the moon and expecting a response. (And I like the bloke)

It's like the divs you see on here (with alarming regularity!) with a problem with their local dealer so they email the head of Mercedes in Stuttgart or whoever the boss of Ford UK is. In some vain attempt to get what they want.

They NEVER read that, their PA does, who simply forwards it to their customer services department laugh
Not true, I emailed CEO of BMW UK with an issue, within 2 hours it was sorted and a cheque was on its way in the post, something the head of customer services couldn't sort a week prior...

Used to work for Nationwide, anything with the CEOs name on (letters) got dealt with as a matter of priority.

I recently had trouble with an insurance company which spanned the course of a two month period and left me wanting to make a complaint, found the company email structure which is the same as most companies and easy to find on linkedin, found CEO name and email complaint off. Complaint dealt with within 30mins of sending the email.

David Cameron obviously a different kettle of fish, but worth a go, you never know.

I don't think the pm checks his own email.

You should email his parliamentary private secretary Gavin Williamson or his private secretary Chris Martin. If the issue is important either of them will put it in front of the pm.

You will get a standard response if you use the generic number 10 email, usually signed by Chris Martin.

He replied and told me to fk off.

I know it was him because it was nasal.

On occasions they do read it themselves. Emailing at weekends can be particularly effective. On other occasions it gets passed to high level escalations and it absolutely makes a difference when it has passed over the CEO's desk.

not sure about Cameron though.
BT's CEO used to be good for this. Or his PA was.

The PM will have statutory limitations as to what he can do, of course.

Erm, yes, in part. Their PA team/office of CEO might be the reader, but trust me the customer services dept react differently from that email feed.... So divs is a little harsh, it's a good way to get to the top of the stack for a response.
Yup.

I once had a defective electrical item and it was just over a year old. It wasn't actually broken, it just wouldn't work as described. The company refused to even look at the item, so I emailed the top man with a polite email explaining how the item was not fit for purpose and how their service department were just ignoring it.

I got a phone call within an hour offering a replacement of my choice. I must be a right Div

I'm one of those "divs".

I had massive ongoing problems with Sky and was getting nowhere. Lost patience one day and used an email address I found on one of the CEO Mail websites, and within 2 hours had a personal phonecall from said PA who had passed it to a support team which was well above anyone I could have spoken to via the normal channels.

Long story short, large discounts and a dedicated person to go to on any issues with my service followed. Sometimes is pays to be a div smile

I just reported this post to Tim Berners-Lee, it's not on you being allowed to say things like this.
