My first 'real' girlfriend - for 2 years, starting in '73. Married two wrong 'uns, divorce battle with the second going on now.

G/F and I actually met up for an hour - seeing me made her realise she's happily married now!

The Nokia 2110. What a great phone that was in its day.

Mysteriously unreeled cassette tape, wrapped round lamp posts that seemed to stretch the entire length of road you were on, twisting lazily in the breeze like some ferric oxide promise of a brighter tomorrow.
Don't forget it's very good friends; old sneakers hanging from telephone wire and bike tyre hooped over street lamp

Being 16.

Friends houses every weekend for beers, girls, football, holidays. Couldn't have been further from mortgages, bills, the grind. Infact 16-21 was a brilliant blur.

Yep. And to expand on this, we had two 'Spud-U-Like' baked potato shops in the area, maybe 20-odd years ago. I used to like them, they were good. Then as quickly as they arrived, they disappeared....

But more worryingly, I mentioned 'Spud-U-Like' to someone the other day, who was also in their early 40's like me - but he didn't remember them at all. So I went on to take a straw poll from about 20 more people of all ages, none of whom could remember these shops either!

So now I feel like I may have dreamed them up or something......surely someone else remembers them, right????

You know, that's not as daft as it might sound at 1st glance. I miss the person I used to be.

I also miss cheap, abundant, light rear wheel drive cars from when they were the norm.

Things I miss........

Spontaneity - life before responsibility.
Good road surfaces without speed cameras.
Le Mans in the '90's.
Being fit.
My dad.
My hair.

Spontaneity will come back when the kids move out. The rest won't.
