My family and friends

Crisp cold mornings when you can see your breath
Draught Ale

I'll be visiting in less than two months, and five months from now I'll probably be back for good.

Turning up at Stamford Bridge 5 minutes before kick off and paying 50p at the turnstyle.
Spangles
Marble Arch/Hyde Park Corner with no traffic lights, just a normal large roundabout.
The "brown tomato" brown sauce holder in Wimpy.
Being able to bounce straight back up after falling over

Standing on the popside at the Baseball Ground, crammed in with thousands of others, being pushed around in the crowd and watching a stream of urine tricking down the terrace from behind me.

Student life. No mortgage, no responsibilities, no relentless endless 9-5. Going out and getting pissed with my mates on a Tuesday night, living in squalor & not caring. Lying in bed with a girl you met a few hours earlier and whose surname you don't know. Getting stoned, going to the supermarket and finding vegetables hilarious.

Why does reality have to come along and ruin it all?

Yep. And to expand on this, we had two 'Spud-U-Like' baked potato shops in the area, maybe 20-odd years ago. I used to like them, they were good. Then as quickly as they arrived, they disappeared....

But more worryingly, I mentioned 'Spud-U-Like' to someone the other day, who was also in their early 40's like me - but he didn't remember them at all. So I went on to take a straw poll from about 20 more people of all ages, none of whom could remember these shops either!

So now I feel like I may have dreamed them up or something......surely someone else remembers them, right????
I'm pretty sure that Spud-U-Like still exists but has gone the way of Wimpy. There are some, but God knows where.
Although I *think* that there is a Spud-U-Like in Merry Hill shopping centre in the Black Country. That's the only one I can think of.

I can only think of one - Modelsport UK. Still there.

Actually, Modelzone exists too. Neither one is exactly local though.

Being a football hero.

Small Oz country town, 300 kids total in high school, playing teams from other similar town high schools. You didn't have to be that good, but boy wasn't it productive if you were good enough.

Three pretty close by me, although I was surprised to see them still, Dorking Models, Roxley Models at Bookham and Mick Charles Models in Epsom.

If I had the time, I'd enjoy rekindling the hobby.
