I buy cheap safety sunglasses from our local builders' merchant. I've found nothing better for driving, mountain biking etc and at £3.99 a pair I can afford to loose or sit on a few pairs a year. I honestly can't see why anyone would buy Oakley etc

I bought a pair of Sungods.

I figured £35 for a pair of polarised sunglasses was pretty good going plus you can customise them.

Poor - I bought some of the mavericks from the crowdfunding campaign and am a bit disappointed - feel cheap and lens was scratched on/shortly after arrival.

This thread has now caused me to make an impulse purchase biggrin

I have ordered some of those polarised Sungods, so will let you know what I think when they arrive! I have gone for the 'Classics' design with an all Frosted Grey frame and Blue mirror lenses.

They may be crap or they may be good, but for £35 I'll soon find out in about 2 days and tell you what I think.

In the meantime... I'm still looking at buying some Oakleys from that discount shop link smile

I had a look at the Maui Jim's, and whilst they do look very good, they are verging on twice what I paid for Oakleys for the ones I would buy so I've put the Maui Jim idea on hold for the moment...

Have a look at Bolle glasses, they are probably priced between bloc and Oakley. I've had a few pairs and they are well made with decent lenses (they are well known for their ski goggles)

I bought the classics just as a spare pair but I think they're alright.
The frames have a bit of flex to them and the lenses aren't as good as my Ray Bans but for £35 they're good.

Well I'm not impressed so far...

Ordered and paid online this Monday and got the screen saying 'order accepted' etc, yet haven't yet received an email confirming my order/payment so sent an email yesterday morning to their customer service saying I hadn't had confirmation of my order or payment yet.

Still haven't had a reply.

I tried a pair of Oakley Gascans for driving and found the thick arms cut out way too much peripheral vision...almost to the point of being dangerous!

I find C Wires or Square Wires with thin frames and arms are much more suited to driving.

Eek - just made an impulse purchase too since my brother has custody of my nice Serengeti sunglasses and I'm off on holiday on Thursday. Had confirmation of my order - they have until 2pm to dispatch because I need them tomorrow. Chances? hehe

I shall stick up for Oakleys - I live in Dubai and we have 360 days of sunshine a year. High quality glasses are a must. I'm yet to find better. They seem to last a long time and the current set I have must be at least three years old and are still like new pretty much. They get bashed about lots as they're worn so often.

I'm sure there are viable alternatives but I've been wearing Oakleys for many, many years and never been disappointed. I'd not want to try another brand, spend a fair bit of dosh and find they're not up to the mark. I can't fault their back up service either.

Also, my Skiing goggles are also Oakleys and they've been superb for years as well.

Just a personal experience.
