Not sure if anyone has seen this video as part of a health and safety scheme by your company, it's quite touching and does get you thinking, but is it true. I can't find any evidence of a fire online, there's been 3 of us looking on the internet for any sign of it and there's nothing.

It happened at the New Jersey Exxon refinery. Charlie had to remove a blind to allow the flow of an octane enhance for fuel, it leaked as he expected and temporarily blinded him. He'd left his car running and that caused the spark which blew up the place.

He said he had 50% 3rd degree burns and the chemical had basically turned him into a human torch. He's got bad scarring on his arms as he described but there's not sign on his face, yes there is a little sign of reconstructive surgery but there's a lot of people had face lifts. Sine this stuff had soaked him, you'd expect it to be a lot worse. There isn't even any hair loss??

It's not that the video hasn't done its job, but he's made millions from this story and there's no sign of it, just seems a bit strange to me. There's also a lot about him having content removed from the internet when people state that his story is a fake. Whether that's true or not, we'll never know.

Wondering if any of the detectives on here who are better at manipulating google could bring up any info?

OP, have a look on www.snopes.com - nothing specific on there, but it tends to be pilot lights on stoves and boilers which ignite petroleum vapours rather than running car engines... scratchchin

If anyone has any or can find any further info on the incident. So far there seems to be nothing, just a bloke making a fortune from an incident he made up.

I've met him before at a work related HSE presentation, you could clearly see he'd been burnt. He explained why his face wasn't affected as much but i can't for the life of me remember why, it was a credible story though from what i remember.

There's no doubt that he's been burned at some point and his story, true or not is one that makes you think, but I find it strange that the chemical went into his eyes, therefore all over his head I'd imagine, but there is no loss of hair and his face, although clearly had plastic surgery of some sort, looks in better condition than mine. He's also got cut off lines on his arms where his suit was, if he was dripping in petrol surely no amount of clothing would have stopped his whole body from burning, fire retardant or not.

Just want to know more details of it.

Yeah there's a few out there that aren't sure and can't find anything.

I saw that article. If that is the one, it's wrong year and wasn't just him that was injured.
