Great news today - thought I would share with my PH mates :D

Anyone who wants to become a paramedic has my admiration. Due to a very ill relative we had paramedics out 5 times last week - different crew each time, plus 3 first responders. ALL were exemplary. Selfless attitude, efficient, caring. So impressed. In an ideal world the NHS would be totally staffed with people with that attitude.
Well done you. fk the loans - the hope and positivity this has given you is totally worth it.

Congratulations, like other have said I hope we never meet whilst you're suited and booted.

I'd take a look at this one though - he seems a bit disorientated. Ray Luxury-Yacht said:
This might be a 'cool story bro' but I'm very excited, so, tough
As some of you may or may not know, I have spent the best part of the last 3 years (not to mention racking up Student Loan debts of close to thirty grand ) training as a Student Paramedic, both at University doing the degree, and with on-the-job placements.
It's been a hard slog, but I have loved every minute of it.
I don't actually graduate and finish my course until this August - however, we go through the recruitment process with the Ambulance Trusts quite early on.
Anyway, I am delighted to say that today my Trust formally offered me a position as a fully-fledged Paramedic, to start after my course finishes. To say I am happy is an understatement, so I just wanted to share some good news in amongst what can sometimes be pages of moaning on these forums!
Thanks go to some other PH'ers who know who they are, who have helped me from the beginning with advice and encouragement. I hope that now I am in this position, I might help future Students myself.
Drink!

Congratulations Ray
It's a great job and as long as you avoid getting involved in all the politics of it you'll love it.
Out of interest, which service are you joining? The student that my cremate and I have been mentoring has just had an offer of employment from our service for September.

This has peaked my interest as I thought about this a while ago but didn't go for it. I am currently very unhappy in my job so after looking online today I am going to apply.
I am in Scotland and it looks like if you are accepted then there is a guaranteed job at the end of it as an Ambulance Technician. No fees either which is a bonus. It would mean dropping to lower wages for a while but I think it would be something I would enjoy.
Anyone have experience of this in Scotland?
