It was all going so well, until . . . .

So cool and dry to cool, cloudy and wet. Could be plenty of rain coming over the next few weeks frown
Grrrr! I'm guessing that the current chart predictions are accurate for what, say a couple of weeks ish? Fingers crossed after that then. smile

Not a wash out, but expect some light rain

Netweather have a 'blog' available for the Glastonbury weather:

Currently erring towards wet rather than sunny and dry, but it's still all to play for. Looking likely to be some rain in the build up to the event.

Being from the other side of the world I always smirk at these threads. But I have a serious question...

How would your life change (or would it) if you had warmer weather all year round? What would you be doing different and would it change your life style?

Probably more sociable actually.

The whole getting-together-for-a-bbq thing could actually be planned, rather than scouring the internet for days when it might possibly happen.

But then there is the flip side, the Brits are a miserable lot when the temperature heads into what we politely call 'moist'. When the moistometer reads sweaty-down-below, when the London Underground stinks more than a horserides crack after a day riding a stallion, we crave 'cool with the odd shower'.

But it's the joys of living in this freaky little outcrop of rock saved by the jetstream, but a smidge too close to our European neighbours (read France) to be entirely happy. If we could just oar the islands a smidge over 20 miles that-a-way, we'd be far happier. Sunny on the inside - that's what really matters smile

That, Sir, would be boring biggrin

Nothing like the changing of the seasons if you ask me.

What would be good was if we could have a guaranteed period of really good weather with nice overnight showers (to water the gardens) from beginning of July until the end of September biggrin

Looks like a wet weekend for us, in the camper in the Yorkshire Dales. Hoping that it improves next week as we are in the Lakes!

Direct hit from the Jet Stream next week - good news is it's weak. So, changeable weather likely.

The charts remain dynamic and open to change - this week looks broadly similar to last week. Pleasant in the South and changeable in the North. The Azores high continues to nudge the South. Low pressure systems brush the North.

Could be a heatwave on the cards for the Med - it could reach us, southern areas benefitting again.

Monday sees rain in most places, then dry in the south - Glastonbury should be ok, and may even get to mid 20s.

All subject to change thanks to the jet stream pointing right at us.

The heatwave continues to show on charts for Spain/France - possible extreme heat in to the 40s for late June, early July.

Some of this is currently showing as reaching SE England - potential for mid 30s is there. But the charts are so far out that the line of heat could easily not cross the channel (or head further north!). If it does, it's humidity and storms - especially as it looks like low pressure could be swinging down from the north at the same time.

Interesting times ahead - and far from certain.

I'm off to Scotland for 10 days at the beginning of July. When forecasts allow, would be interested to see what it may be like on the west coast for week beginning 6th!

If its looking really bad, I'll probably look to get my passport out!

I'm thinking of building something similar to this:

I'll need circa 90 bricks?

I've got a solid brick bbq like that too. I've not used it since I got a proper Weber bbq. The Weber type bbq's are a million times better. With the lid and air controls etc you can cook a full chicken for example. Thats just not possible on the type of bbq you're looking at.

The only reason I'd suggest going with a brick one (and this is the reason we did originally) was if the property is for holiday lets or something. A good brick one will be cemented to the ground and can't be stolen. Nor can it really be damaged. If its for your own use I'd go with the Weber style every single time now. The only drawback being you need to live in a decent area, or have somewhere to store it when you're not using it.
