Absolute stonking day here yesterday - clear blue skies all day and a really warm southerly wind. Gorgeous.

Today however, dreary as fk. Thick drizzle on and off throughout the day. Being more or less pretty southerly here, looks as if we may get away with a half decent week with the weather definitely improving towards the weekend, with blighty getting most of the rain and drizzle it would appear.

Signals are still strong for high pressure to start building over the weekend, with temps to climb in to high 20s next week.

However, that's beyond the period of time for certainty, so keep watching this space.

Unlike the plume a week or so ago, this would probably not warm up Scotland to the same degree.

Chances of heat building up are diminishing. Not the greatest of summer outlooks!

Low pressure arrives in the north soon - dragging some heat up for the South, especially tomorrow. Then it all breaks down, good risk of thunder Thurs/Fri night. smile

That's it then.
You've had your week summer. Same as every year.

Now where's that winter thread....

NO! That's not being started until the end of September, every year someone starts it ridiculously early and then we end up with no snow. I can't have another winter with no snow, I just can't weeping

Although that said I'm moving out of London in 2 weeks which significantly increases my chance of seeing some snow this winter hehe

It's true though. I'm already looking at the log burner and thinking yep, won't be long and we'll be lighting that. Need to start splitting wood and building up a nice big log pile. And the nights are already drawing in noticeably. Not long until autumn now.

All my fault - new patio installed last week, and the furniture for it arrives today.

Better get the chiminea ordered!

Smirking slime ball Alex Deakin said this morning on the BBC weather that the channel islands would be shrouded in mist and drizzle all day...

Off on hols on Saturday, to watch 180 drug addicts climb Alpe d'huez.

Apparently there was a big storm across Cambridgeshire last night, I missed it as I haven't moved out there yet.

There may also have been lightning over west London last night too, I also missed it because I was asleep hehe

Sat in the garden last night watching the lightning go off about 7-8 miles away <sad>

Unsettled outlook remains. Summer very much on hold, although the further SE you are, the more chance of occasional warmer spells like yesterday.

A couple of unseasonable deep low pressure systems to come - nothing dangerous, just totally unwanted! Can't really complain about the weather in the South - we hit 24 yesterday and further east was warmer.

After that, yet again, we have tentative signs of the building blocks for summer starting towards the end of next week. Will keep an eye out on this. I've been watching for a few days as the mid-range systems have been indicating. Let's hope the near-range forecasts follow.

Us southerners are going to pay for the superior weather we've been having:
