Rain is always welcome as far as I am concerned this time of year, worse case is hardly a monsoon anyway!

Considering this Friday rain forecast has changed 3 times in 3 daysi be surprised if we even have it. They forecast rain all day in south wales and we had hardly anything. That's not the first time it happened evn sunday was forecast for rain as was sunny all day.

Either the models are way of or gods having a bit of a laugh with the forecasters lol.

It's the mysterious power of La Manche, sometimes acts like a wall when the weather comes up from the south, they can't decide if the system has enough oomph or not.
Hope that explanation wasn't too technical.

That's what happens when you have a grindr and a PH session open at the same time folks.

A couple of unseasonable deep low pressure systems to come - nothing dangerous, just totally unwanted! Can't really complain about the weather in the South - we hit 24 yesterday and further east was warmer.
.
Not been quite as good in Yorkshire for the last week and looking at the next week. About 16c today and somewhere around that for next week. Any chance of something abit warmer up here ?

We've got a nasty week or so to go - multiple low pressures as indicated.

Then the signs are for high pressure to build over us - but nothing guaranteed. Signals are strengthening though :thumubp:

Us southerners are going to pay for the superior weather we've been having:

Super, I've got tickets for an outdoors concert tomorrow evening (SW London), so much for sun, pimms and a BBQ.

I'll take a canoe to beat the crowds when leaving.

Oh that's a shame.

I really hate it when some overseas posters gloat about the temperature be it beneficial + or - temps where they reside. furious

Stop it.

Do consistently low summer temps indicate a colder than average winter? Was an active little nina mentioned as a trigger for cold winters?

El Nino can certainly influence colder winters for us. There's been a very pronounced El Nino this year, although the weather brains will still be trying to work things out (and waiting for more signs). UK weather is very complicated and so El Nino alone couldn't cause the winter we crave wink

Wiki said:
El Niño's effects on Europe appear to be strongest in winter. Recent evidence indicates that El Niño causes a colder, drier winter in Northern Europe and a milder, wetter winter in Southern Europe.[29] The El Niño winter of 2009/10 was extremely cold in Northern Europe but El Niño is not the only factor at play in European winter weather and the weak El Niño winter of 2006/2007 was unusually mild in Europe, and the Alps recorded very little snow coverage that season.[30]

Yep - good chance of a low pressure system pushing southwards to our West, forcing up a bit of warmth from France to us.

Lovely here in France at the moment - this was taken a few days ago on a bike ride in the Alps - too hot though, 35 degrees, so decided to come down to the Med just to cool off. Currently 10:30 at night and about 23. Lovely. Outlook is about 30 degrees for the rest of the week with unbroken sunshine. 'Tis a tough life. smile

Does your car tell you when to brake?
I bet it adds a ! if you don't respond. "Brake!"
