Dear Northerners - you might be able to take the jumpers off soon...
They're the southerners who turned right instead of left coming off the M4 and spent the last 10 years looking for the way back.

Rest of us just wear t shirts

apparantly a downgrade in the models.

It will be warm-ish, but not hot. Nothing to get excited about.

Week will be more unsettled and cooler than the weekend. Then next weekend warms up again smile

Glorious here over the weekend, wall to wall sunshine and light winds. Today however it's been cloudy but no rain, although we were treated to a decent sunset once the cloud lifted. Tomorrow looks fairly benign, Wednesday and Thursday could be filed as 'interesting'.

As mcelliot has alluded to - Thursday in particular is looking 'interesting'. Very heavy rain, thundery at times for the South. An area of low pressure will move up from Spain/France and bring warm/humid/unsettled weather.

Not so sure about a warm weekend now either irked

There's a real state of flux at the moment due to being on the boundary between warm and wet weather. Hence why the South hasn't had a good or bad summer, and the NW has had a dreadful one. So it's hard to predict around 4 days in advance at the moment.

There is good agreement on a warm spell happening - but this keeps cropping up all summer and hasn't happened.

Potential for crazy amounts of water tomorrow - but as usual with this kind of weather it could be very hit or miss locally.

We haven't had a storm (worthy of the name) yet this summer, so here's hoping...

Here in London, we've had a pretty dry and pleasant summer. With very little rain and relatively high ambient temperatures. However, I've read that NI has had its coldest July for ages and it seems every time I catch BBC weather, the forecaster has predicted rainageddon in Scotland.

Has there been a North - South divide this summer. If so, where was the line drawn?

There absolutely has been - I alluded to it yesterday.

High pressure and very hot temperatures have prevailed in Europe most of the summer. The Atlantic has seen a lot of low pressure. These two areas have sat in equilibrium most of the summer. There hasn't been a fixed line, obviously, but it's swayed about. Occasionally it's even brought the cool, wet weather down to us hehe I think Scotland even hit the high 20s when we had that plume!

The day started out cool and grey after yesterday's total fking washout, but the last hour and a half, the temp has risen a good 3 or 4 degrees with a strong south easterly airflow. Can already hear distant rumbles of thunder off the coast of Brittany and heading our way. Local weather warnings in force for flash flooding. I wonder if it'll match the humdinger we had a couple of months ago. Tomorrow and Friday look proper wet with some forecasters predicting 50ml of rain.
