A chav is a chav no matter how they dress. Tell them to dress up in a suit and they'll probably wear something the trousers haven't been hemmed and the back of the trousers are frayed from over hanging their shoes.

I don't see anything wrong with a nice tracksuit. Occassion appropriate of course.

I'm with you on that, I tend to live in lightweights when not in smart trousers for work. I do own a couple of pairs of tracksuit trousers but they're for getting to or from a run, or running in in cold weather. Wouldn't occur to me to put them on for any other reason.

I wear trackie bottoms at work when I have to put my overalls on, a pair of jeans under them really annoys me so I tend to avoid that combo.

I wear 'em for dossing about the house too, but I think wearing trackie bottoms and a matching top make you looks like a tit.

I was due to play some dads and lads end of season rugby yesterday so went to Sports Direct to get the least chavvy tracksuit I could find. Was also going to use it for tennis. I didn't even get it out of the bag before the OH forced me to take it back.

It was a bit shell suit-y I suppose.

Anyway, it was a fail.

Literally the first thing I do when I get home every day is change into tracksuit bottoms and a T-shirt/hoody. It's a total relief to be in something soft and comfortable!

I know a couple of mates who will get home from the office and then spend the following couple of hours still in their trousers/shirt/tie whilst doing things around the house... It totally baffles me.

Jeans: Also one of the most uncomfortable and inflexible items of clothing ever made. I also remove a pair of jeans as soon as I get in the house. I cannot understand anyone who lounges about the house in jeans.

I will wear tracksuit bottoms for anything in and around the home but I feel a bit 'scruffy' if I nip to the supermarket with them on.
See, I'm the other way around. I wear shorts & t-shirt at work and love to put on a jacket/suit in the evenings when heading out for dinner. I think dressing for dinner is very 'British'.

Actually, the whole concept of 'lounging about the house' is a bit chav in itself no? Especially when combined with sports clothing.
All I can envisage is someone slouching on a sofa with massive gold chains, an incorrectly worn baseball cap and stupid crack head music on full blast.

By 'lounging around at home' I mean doing things like watching TV, listening to music, reading a book, doing paperwork and other work related things, cooking, browsing the Internet.

Other uses of tracksuit pants include gardening, car cleaning, DIY etc.

What do you do when you at home?

No, they look pretty awful, that doesn't stop me wearing them to go to the supermarket or similar though, or walk to the corner shop or run a quick errand, but then I couldn't really care less what people think.

The trick is to get them quite dirty so it looks like you've been doing some DIY (or are a builder) then its not as bad, I should probably refrain from wearing them with air max trainers though wink

hehe

I've got some stretch fit ones from Uni Qlo, they do look identical to any normal jeans but they're much more flexible and comfortable. Plus it means I can get them round my HUGE quads.

They look rubbish but are super comfortable. I'll wear them around the house, to go to the supermarket etc. But not to go in to town shopping.

I'm fresh out of uni and just consider it a student thing, we all wore them. Exclusion to the rule of when to wear them was hungover.

Important thing for me is not wearing the matching top, or even a trackie top. Hoody or something, just makes it look less chav/training and more about comfort and warmth. Besides you need somewhere to put your phone and wallet as the pockets are awful.

In the garage working on one of my cars in an old set of jeans.

What's wrong with trousers and a shirt inside? Boiler suit in the shed? I would take slight discomfort over looking like a mall-dweller any day thanks.

But no one is going to see you... So you might as well take advantage of that fact and enjoy the slight improvement in comfort.

I wear trackies pretty much every day when I get home from work. If I'm in the gym/exercising somewhat, then they're useful, otherwise they're just very comfortable.

I have no problems with going out wearing tracksuits. While I wouldn't go for dinner or go to a pub wearing trackies, I don't see a need to dress up to do my weekly shop at Tesco.

I don't care how people judge me for wearing what I want to wear when I'm just going out to do my errands.
This yes

Used to find it a pain in the arse finding jeans that were comfy, so rather than wear them all the time i just have a couple of pairs for going out in and for everything else there is trackies or dickies redhawks.
Wrong, you'll both look like chavs wink
hehe

After years of taking the pi$$ out of my Fiance's brother for wearing tracksuits I decided to buy a pair of super dry tracksuit bottoms to wear around the house and was amazed at how comfortable they are, Normally I would wear a shirt and jeans or trousers but tracksuits are so comfortable. They are also amazing for long distance driving smile

I'll go with the consensus on here, joggers around the house and gym get a big thumbs up from me. I generally wear jeans if I'm doing anything else out the house though.
