Bucket list

Travel on Eurostar

Travel on some of the Euro high speed trains

Have a passive house (essentially passive house is a standard for VERY low energy homes) built for me to live in.

Stay in nice hotels occasionally

Figure out ways that I as a normal person to actually shape policy in Ireland (where im from and live)

Eat in epic style during said travel/hotel trips mentioned above

See as many different countries / cities as possible, travel is one of my main goals.
I'd love to do a massive bike tour, McGregor style, and also just spend a few months backpacking, probably around Oz, just putting aside possessions and living 'free' for a while.

I want to build my own house, on a nice plot of land, away from people, with very nice views. Doesn't have to be a mansion, just big enough for me, my dog(s) and a missus if there is one. Designed exactly as I want it, with a decent size separate garage for a modest car / bike collection.

I'd also like to work for myself / own my own business. It's just always been a goal of mine to be my own boss and in a way, in control of my own 'destiny'.

So yeah - travel, live and work, all free and independently smile

Drive at 200mph.
Drive an F1 car.
All four of those on my list too!

Ill add some of my more aspirational yet unlikely to achieve ones:

London marathon
Catch a goliath tigerfish in the Congo
Row the Atlantic
Climb Everest
Learn to hang glide

Isn't that what Jeremy Wade did, was it the massive bugger with great big pointy teeth and big golden scales?

I have never had one because I strongly believe that any sort of long term deferment is a dream. If I want to do something I am going to do it, and soon.

I tend to avoid things like driving an F1 car for example, because it is never going to happen. I would not fit in a modern F1 car anywaysmile. You cannot plan to win the lottery, and putting absolutely impossible things on a list seems to me to be setting yourself up for disappointment.

On the other hand, I have done the 200MPH for example, driven on most of the tracks I wanted to. ( Monza still to do, but that's perfectly possible, just needs to fit into my schedule some time.).

It seems a bit morbid to me, a bucket list. One thing is certain.

The mortality rate for PHrs remains at precisely 100%.

Sooner or later , something will get you, either fatally or a disease that leaves you unable to fulfil your dreams. IF you have some sort of list, try to do as many things as possible as soon as possible. I have followed this from the age of 15, and it has in many way defined how I live.

Done that! 6am, completely wrecked with my mates in Magaluf.

As for my bucket list.

Ride an Elephant
Drive a Pagani Zonda around Europe
Go skydiving
Ski in America and Canada
Tour America in a proper muscle car.
Visit Tokyo
Punch a bear and live to tell the tale.

Not sure about that, really. I started to work at 11 pumping petrol, and worked every summer , all school holidays from that point forward. We were quite poor, and sometimes had no car. You adjust your dreams to fit your time and money availability, In those days, when my summer factory work was over, I saved a week or two and travelled a bit. Bought some nice clothes, paid my education, got some stuff for the parents. Evidently wanted to have a few quid to have a good time in university, and I did. Still works many weekends then. Yet I had an absolute blast of s time.

Never really understood the work vs play issue...I had high pressure jobs most of my life after that, and loved them. True after a while I had more money, and adjusted my dream upwards, but money does not make you happy. Impossible dreams can make you very unhappy in fact. All through my life I have had great friends, and still have some from the age of 14 that I still see. That is part of feeling happy...the friends, family, shared history.

Otherwise, money would be the key to happiness.

It is not.

True, serious indebtedness and having your back to the wall financially is incredibly stressful. I had that once in my twenties due to my own lack of self-discipline and vowed never to be in debt again, so in general I have a pretty good feel for the widely varying economic circumstances of my life. Still,I think dreams should be achievable within some shorter timeline based on ciscumstances.

I had my first Porsche at the age of 27 to so...it cost me $1200, It was a truly awful, rusty, dangerous 911S, ( yas, yes, if I had it now it would be worth money). But it was just a rusty old car. One of the many heaps I have owned...3,8 Jag with no brakes, Lancia Fulvia HF which on reflection would have been restorable, but it was cheap. Ford 100E. It was fun and have no regrets at all. My son drives a Landie that appears to have been made form five different vehicles, so history repeats itself.smile

Interesting the repeated desire to drive at 200mph, I have owned a couple of cars that can do it but I've never had the slightest desire to try. Only bucket list item I can think of is learn to play Rockabilly guitar to a decent level, been trying for 8 years and don't seem to be getting any closer.
