Interesting and probably a completely different thread but I don't think I agree.
In a nutshell your argument is that your 'list' should be easily achievable at your current earnings so that they don't disappoint.
Definitely a valid point, but I prefer aspirational dreams. Stuff that I can do now, at my current earnings (and within earnings I also allude to being able to have extended periods of not working to achieve things) I just think of as stuff that I am going to be doing anyway.
I suppose we mean the same thing, its just how you define 'bucket list'. For me it's full of stuff I aspire to do, or 'dreams' as you call them. Everything that I can afford to do I, like you, make a point of doing

Disagree, you adjust you plans to fit your time and money, not your dreams.

I have various dreams that I will fulfil if money and time become available. If I don't achieve them I won't be particularly upset or unhappy.

I can't really think of anything.

Then again, I am unimaginative.

Interesting the repeated desire to drive at 200mph, I have owned a couple of cars that can do it but I've never had the slightest desire to try. Only bucket list item I can think of is learn to play Rockabilly guitar to a decent level, been trying for 8 years and don't seem to be getting any closer.
I've ridden my motorbike at 200. Kph, rather than mph though. And 207, according to the onboard computer. Not sure how accurate it is, so probably not even a "real" 200kph.

Highly recommend it, stunning creatures and a fabulous experience.

Last three were on Sunday, very late in the season and both were younger fish.

As for my own;

Dive with Hammerheads, they exist here but generally in the more challenging waters.

Swim with Humpback Whales (we get them here every year but very strict controls are enforced about getting in the water with them)

Dive the wrecks on Bikini Atoll and Scapa Flow.

Ride coast to coast of the USA on something other than a Harley. (planned for my 40th in 2 years.)

I am quite happy to take you and one of your toys to the Autobahn to crack that barrier if you wish...

Papa3 - you are lucky, I've only met a baby one (he was about 18ft or so). Last time there was only Manta in the area (though they were fantastic to dive with too, but that is one off the bucket list!).

Very lucky, the big males I have seen can be 12-14m.

Devil Rays often visit divers here too. Amazing to be in the water with.

I've got little on mine that I've not already done, but I can heartily recommend feeding lime pickle to an American.

The Whale Sharks look amazing.

A friend of mine did this - well, it was close, it was 100 things to do in a year (sadly, didn't put visit Mexico, meet a girl, get married, move back and live in Mexico etc. as he did that in the year!) and one of them was to fly in a MiG 25. There was a company - may still exist - that did that back in the 90's.

He didn't have the cash to do it, but knew he would always earn enough to pay back a loan. He went off to the bank, and started the loan process. They must have thought he was going to buy a car ... it was at the end they asked what he was going to do with the money, he said "I'm going to go into space". They ripped up the form!

Anyway, here's my list - may need to add to it, it would have been a lot longer a few years ago (like graduate, learn to scuba dive, find a pearl in a shell, all done now).

1. Visit New York - includes going up the Empire State building and see a show on Broadway
2. Ride to work and back on my bike - may not be same day!
3. Visit Australia
4. Get the train to Moscow and back.
5. Visit Moscow.
6. Visit Hawaii
7. Visit New Zealand
8. Cycle across the country (coast to coast)
9. Walk the Pennine Way
10. Drive / be driven at 200 mph (includes train!)
11. Fly into space
12. Learn how to ride a motorbike and pass test
13. Climb Everest
14. Stay overnight in a aqua hotel
15. Fly in a hot air balloon
16. Give my daughters away at their weddings (if they choose to get married!)
17. See the Northern Lights
18. Visit Roslyn, Washington (where Northern Exposure was filmed)
19. See the Mona Lisa (and other artworks in the Louvre)
20. Ride a segway

Haven't done 200 MPH, but have done 180+ down Conrod in an F1 Brabham, & I've broken the sound barrier in a 60s fighter. For those interested in speed, neither were anywhere near as quick as my old TR7 through the nearby ranges, at 50 MPH on it's skinny 13" wheels & tyres.

I finished the bucket list years ago, raised a few kids, did some sailing around the Pacific islands & a few Hobart races, owned some show jumpers & eventers, but there is just one new thing in the bucket. To hold onto my drivers licence. At 75 I'm now on a medical test every 2 years, & that is the last goal. To keep enjoying my old cars for as long as possible.

Hope most of you can cram as much fun into your lives as I've been lucky enough to get into mine.

Lots more here.

Saint Helena Island in the South Atlantic. Lucky to have been here for the last 4 years. In particular the diving/fishing/sailing are incredible.
