Wow some seriously miserable bds on here.
If you don't want to see gym/food/baby selfies then unfriend or block them or leave FB altogether. But secretly I bet you love snooping on other people's lives and would rather see things like that than an empty news feed wink
You can't really believe that, can you, despite the patronising wink?

Can it be within the realms of your comprehension that not everyone is the same and some people are genuinely disinterested in a vacuous st photo someone took of themselves doing something utterly fking banal in an attempt to get attention?

Bizarre.
But if you were not interested in that kind of attention whoring then why would you keep following those people? It takes one click to unfollow/unfriend someone.

Personally? Utter disinterest in Facebook beyond occasional use to promote my band/stay in touch with far-flung friends manifesting in a total inability to work it properly and know you can actually do that without 'unfriending' them. And some are family who would be offended if I unfriended them.

Basically, I find that aspect of it mildly tiresome but my more general malaise towards the whole thing prevents me from doing anything to stop it or learning how to avoid it.

There's only 2 reasons I can think of why women do it.

1- to show off.
2- to show they are working hard. Abit like in school. THe guys tend to not admit/show how hard they're working or revising a subject where as the women are more open about it.

as for the guys. showing off.

The only time I have ever taken a photo in the gym is at the end of a cardio session on a cross trainer. Makes it easy to track your estimated cals burnt and the photos are all date stamped.

Check out Chloe Madeley's Instagram feed for some great examples. Although she openly admits she has self confidence issues and its a release / help for her. Fair play for being open about it, I doubt many others will admit this, but they do it anyway.

Very closely related to body dysmorphic disorder.

In a similar vein are the posts from various jogging apps with a little map saying "I've run 3km in 2 hours" like it's some sort of achievement. Go away and come back when you've run a marathon in under 3 hours and I'll be impressed. Better than people moaning about politics or religion though.

I have however been posting up loads of photos of our newborn son, mainly to troll the sort of people who get annoyed by that sort of thing.

In all seriousness, if it fks you off, unfollow, simple.

Seeing how well my mate did in shedding fat and toning up inspired me to get on it!

I put a lot of this type of stuff on my Instagram now then facebook. Not really selfies though, it will be pictures of me taken by one of my coachs or numbers from the PR board, photos of the gym or of meals.

people don't have to like it, but they do...a lOt of them infact. Not really sure why I'd hardly cosnider myself anything other than an average lifter. I have had people tell me certin things i put on helped to motivate them to push themselves or try something new.

Most of all it's just a way to chart my Journey as a power athlete

AND the baby and baby bump photos!

YAWN!

You see one baby you've seen them all!
Yes. When it is born you get the inevitable comments "Oh it's so beautiful", "Wow what a gorgeous boy/girl"

No - it looks like every other baby. Quite fat, very confused and not fking beautiful.

Yes... but if you really care about the couple, you will give a st. Well, for the 3 couples I know that have had or are having a baby and posting on FB all the time, I'm pleased as punch for them. But they're not "Facebook friends", they're friends who happen to now use FB. Dunno if that's the difference.

I'm in the gym 5 days a week and not once thought about tagging myself in. no one cares you're in the gym unless you have equally vain followers.

I have in the past taken shelfies though, just pictures of shelves

This is true - there has to be a separation between friends that you see once a year or so and your close friends. Some of my closer friends who have had babies I've given them the courtesy of a "like" and "congratulations". But I couldn't bring myself to tell them the kid is beautiful biggrin
