Only once, I was quietly walking back from a nightclub in first year of uni with my mates and some random guy punched me in the face for no reason what so ever. I hit him back, hard, and he backed off. His friends apologised for him being out of order etc, and we went on our way.

Not sure how I would have reacted if I hadn't been drunk! It bloody hurt as well, I couldn't hold a pen properly for a while after! Probably not one of my finest moments.

In my peer group, we had a habbit of whacking each other in the balls, which is obviously extremely painful. It became so common that we all decided to make a pact - if person A punches person B in the balls then person B gets to punch person A in the face.

It worked really well - it stopped the constant nut shots, which we were all grateful for...

Anyway, I digress... I ended up launching a shoe at my friend Sam (who used to do some amateur boxing) - I aimed at his face but I throw like a girl and it ended up landing right on his ball-sack - after he'd recovered, he took a swing at my face - got me right in the jaw, chipped my tooth and I couldn't speak for hours... I knew the punch was coming, I knew the pact and prepped for his 'free' face punch and it fking hurt!

Because I'm an idiot, I ended up doing the exact same thing the next day - except I bartered with him and instead took 30 punches to the arm, my arm was black for about a week and probably hurt more.

Someone whacked me in the face with a motorbike helmet when I was about 16/17. I fell over & it hurt a lot. Ended up with a black eye and a chipped front tooth (the chip shape is still sort of there 25 years later).

The really stupid thing is, it shouldn't have happened. A bloke pulled up on a motorbike next to me, took his helmet off & asked me if I was "John Smith" - which I'm not. Rather than saying "no", being 17 and full of cider, my cockiness and bolshiness was much higher than my negotiation skills and somehow I ended up on the floor being told "that's from Macca".

So if I ever meet "John Smith", I owe you a smack in the mouth from "Macca".

Not the face, but I was taking a swig from a lemonade bottle when I was 19, when my 11 year old brother walked past and punched the glass bottle.

It chipped a piece of my front tooth...

It's still chipped 40 odd years later.

Have I been punched in the face?

Yes.

Did it hurt?

Not as much as having my nose reset.

Yes when I was about 11.
In school in class. A lad I know took a comment the wrong way and punched me in the face.
It didn't hurt one bit and I just stood there and stared at him. Teacher came straight over and stood between us.

I was more surprised by the weakness of the punch than the fact he had actually punched me.

A few times during my karate and boxing training a couple of black eyes but nothing major, it took my brother to do that when he broke my nose during a full contact karate competition it set straight but with a nice big bump at the bridge. Also had my jaw dislocated at a karate competition my opponent obviously got annoyed as he was losing badly and decided that it had suddenly become full contact and didn't pull his roundhouse kick and I didn't put up a full block as it was supposed to be semi contact so no facial contact and ended up with a foot across the jaw and me talking funny for a little while he got thrown out of the comp I wasn't allowed to continue due to safety reasons.

Don't know if I could still take a good hit now as its been nearly 10yrs since I stopped that type of training

^ I also used to do karate and boxing and it's been at least 10 years since anyone punched me (fortunately). I don't think getting punched in the face ever hurt at the time, usually hurt afterwards though. I once broke my nose in a fight as well when I was about 18.

The normal M.O. is I get punched in the face which sees me react with a punch to their face. I'm currently on about a 20% win ratio but then I'm not powerfully built and grew up in a tough northern town.

I can only assume that not feeling it at the time was the same as me and it was the adrenaline that was running through the system, I assume it helped to keep me going through the day as well didn't feel hungry/tired at the competitions but ate like a horse the second it finished and always slept rather heavy the day after

Quiet a few times, it's not very nice. I've never started a fight in my life, but I went to quite a rough school and you would get "started on" maybe 1-2 times a year by the usual year/form hard nuts.

If you get hit in the nose, even if it doesn't break your eyes go all watery and you can't see, not great for defending yourself.

Forehead makes you feeling dizzy.

Cheek / Jaw, you rarely feel it until the next day (unless something breaks I guess).

I got punched in the eyebrow once, didn't feel a thing but it split and needed a couple of sticky 'stitches' to fix.

Just the once. Got a black eye. He got a black eye and a fat lip in exchange.

We were 8. Decided at that point I didn't like violence much and it's entirely pointless, so haven't bothered with it since.

It's the flash of white light that always surprised me.
The flashes actually are different colours sometimes laugh

Lots of times, none of it really hurts because of the adrenaline, the thought of being punched/kicked in the head is much worse than the reality.

I've never had a single fight in my entire 35 years... Ever.

I actually thought about it the other day and wondered how I had managed.

When playing rugby I had a sucker punch to the face from a pathetic little scrum half. Didn't hurt to be honest but he was body slammed into the mud by our tighthead prop before I was able to react. I just smacked him one later in the game rofl

yes, far more frequently than i probably should!.....doesn't REALLY hurt that much....unless you tagged by a pearler. the camera flash thing and seeing stars seems to take less and less time to receed the more you get used to it.

the sharp pain of a head shot is nowhere near as bad as a crushing body shot. i've had my nose broken and it wasn't too bad. i've had a cracked rib from a hook to the body that took months to recover from.

the black eye above happened in the encounter below....i'm the chap in the red headguard

My last fight a few years ago was my own fault. I wanted ot go to a pub I don't normally go to. The quickest way to get there was through a rough estate using a couple of underpasses. You can imagine the locals were not impressed with me (an adult) invading their territory. I ended up being punched in the head from behind. I turned around and got 3 punches off (using the martial art of windmilling in) and ended up being rushed and dropped to the floor. From then on it wasn't a fight, more of me in the fetal position waiting for them to finsih kicking me. Ended up with a black eye, a swollen cheek and some missing skin from my knuckles. It was winter and my thick coat took the brunt of their aggression. Could have been worse.

I've been punched in the face and head more times than is probably healthy with and without gloves. Different places hurt in different ways, I hate my ears being sore and fear then cauliflowering so they're the ones I hate the most. I wouldn't recommend it but you can get used to it and learn to avoid it, I don't fight competitively anymore so if I get a clean shot put on me in more upset with myself for getting caught than out hurts.
