If you want to look really cool the current look is "Normcore" or "Dadcore" which basically means buying all your clothes from M&S Blue Harbour range.
Nothing wrong with a bit of M&S (and I'm only 31). biggrin

In fact, the blazer I'm wearing today (grey herringbone with red/blue pin stripes) is M&S Blue Harbour. Very decent quality, proper Shetland wool with some nice detailing.

Surely you just need to find a shop that sells things you like?
This is the easiest way I think.

I used to dress in similar to the OP to the age of about 40, when I thought it was about time I lost the jeans at least, haven't worn them since.

I hate trailing around clothes shops and buy most of my clothing online from here now: http://www.orvis.co.uk/

I know it will fit and it's all good quality stuff, it's an American site, so some of the stuff is a bit loud. Not cheap but they have fairly regular sales which helps.

Likewise shoes, I just buy Merrell casuals online for the same reasons.

Neither may be your style but there will be something out there for you.

....you can then move onto chino's, but no rush for this.
yikes

I'm liking all the suggestions, I will learn how to do this and one day, maybe even put chino's on.

Sports casual. It's classic English gentleman abroad, it's David Niven, Stuart Granger, Nigel Havers. It's a green blazer. The look? Imperial leisure.
