One of the founders of the company is having a do tonight. Lovely chap. I felt I had to go. There must be an event tonight or tomorrow in Cardiff as rooms are ridiculously expensive. So I have to drive home. So I have to stay sober. I'll finish work at about 5. Dinner is at 8:30.

Not a lot really. You could, at a push and with a labyrinthine safety cord attached meander to the city centre. On my evenings there years back, it was somewhat of a cultural revelation. You might return, partially revived. Things To Do In Dinas Powys When You're Dead.

I don't really like the Evoque either. I get that it's fashionable and all but how car a car that size have such a midget size rear windscreen? It's the same sort of 'design language' b
ks as I have in my fiesta and I hate it. I have less visibility in a supermini that I did in a large family saloon, how does that make sense?! Oh, and it has tints in the rear that I couldn't not have. I hate tints. Some modern cars look great, but I can't help but think it's at the expense of function. This disappoints me as there are lots of cars out there which are good examples of form and function.
I worked as a tech at a LR dealership for 2 years and I encountered many, many interesting design ideas. Whether it be poorly worded repair manuals, poor placement of parts that were prone to fail/need adjustment/servicing which, was never changed in production life.
However, on a brand new RR, a customer noticed a blue staining at the rear of their roof-lining. I was often given jobs like this, same at rattles as most techs normally hate diagnostic. I noticed it was an incorrectly bonded washer jet line, but as it was in warranty it also required a new roof-lining.
The car is rebooked for 3 days and I print off the repair manual and get set to work. As you can imagine, it's not like dropping a roof-lining on a Renault Clio. It's quite an 'involved job' but when I got to a point where it was completely free of all wiring and trims, it became quite obvious it was too large to exit the rear aperture. I turn over to the penultimate page of the repair manual and to my horror, it showed the roof-lining with an arrow pointing to go through the windscreen aperture!
I went and showed the workshop controller and he also couldn't believe his eyes. Then the service manager didn't believe it, so then he wanted to see too...
They phoned the windscreen replacement company they used to if they could come and remove the screen, but they made it quite clear that they could not guarantee removal and refitment of it without breaking it! So we went to LR and they said they would not cover the cost of a new screen, if it were to break.
So, I was left with the only option of trying to wrestle the old lining out of the rear. Which was fine...as it was getting sent back to LR probably to get thrown in the bin. But getting the new one in was...err, challenging.
Working at LR made me realise I wanted to leave the trade. I went back to school.

Please do. There is Towers Tour with Battert as Guide but we strongly recommend you don't take it. The older he gets the more inclined he is to get lost.Park yourself in the bar and chip in trivialities when the fancy takes you.
