Currently full of want for one of these Naim Muso thingies. Always wanted a Naim system, always out of price range but now a little closer.

I didn't know anything about these until this post, now I've been looking online. £895 from Richer Sounds..... Hmmmmm. I can hear my wallet weeping in my forthcoming trip to Blighty, although the £:€ rate will kill me! Perhaps better buying locally.

Just following on from my purchase yesterday of a used Daskeyboard S Pro with Cherry MX Blue keys, I have discovered that there is quite the "scene" for after-market customisations of such keyboards with alternative keycaps readily available.

Right now I'm considering the frivolous purchase of replacement W, A, S and D keys in red.

Really? It has individually sprung mechanical keys rather than a membrane? I'm impressed.
Independent suspension. I bet you can get a lowering kit for that.

Actually you can ! You can put O rings under the keys to reduce the amount of travel wink

hehe

Yes, this is true.

Seems to be quite the "scene" for mechanical keyboards. There may even be mechanical keyboards out there with zero key travel and the keys sticking out at silly angles. winkbiggrin

I had to get a new keyboard at work a while back as I have worn the letters off the keys. I didn't realise that you can get a totally blank keyboard

Ooh, I like that. I'd have a hard time using it but I like it.

About to pull the trigger on this.

Im going to strip out the internals and put a RPi in there and use it as an internet wireless radio.

where the cassette hole is will be a adafruit and the buttons will be reprogrammed for sound and channel changing.

I will sort out the needles to just bounce around and finally rip apart a sound bar to attach to the front of it for the sound.

Last one fell through so I made the choice to go expensive

OH is not going to be happy with more junk in the property that I have to sort out.

Hope you are going to document the build and post it in the main RPi thread in Computers, Gadgets & Stuff.

I've seen a couple of builds on other sites where they have managed to get the meters on old kit to work.

Such as http://freshfoo.com/blog/raspberry_pi_vu_meter

Alternatively use the 2 meters as a clock, left hand meter the hours and right the minutes, obviously with new background scale.

+1.

I used to have a '70s stereogram I thought would make a brilliant AV stand and 3.1 system. Missus decided it didn't fit the 'decor'...

Sure I will be going through and sorting out pictures and exactly what I have done to make it work, if I can... its a first attempt at something like this and I don't currently know how to solder.

You can also get keyboards in a variety of layouts, e.g. my mini one (complete with red esc for a bit of colour):

I've been deeply affected by this hobby - I've got mech boards for all my PCs at home and work now, once you've typed on a mech for a bit a rubber dome feels filthy.

I already have a bike I don't use.

Working on the basis that if I splash out I'll feel a lot more inclined I bidded on and won this yesterday on EBay.

Collecting in the week

I was on holiday last week and happened to pass a toyshop (one of those "educational" types with wooden toys etc). They had something in the window that caught my eye, however due to luggage constraints I couldn't buy it.

Came home, did a bit of internet shopping, and these arrived today: Bonnie, Clyde and Buck.

They are really well made compared to other "toy" cars and I think they look great. They'll be going on display someplace in the study.

I suspect I may be buying some Mavericks later in the year.

£917. To some ( me) that's a lot to others it's not. Relative I suppose. What do you think?

This week I have been seriously considering one of these:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1UXE_ItR-Y

Very difficult to get a response from them, though - that vid's been viewed about 50,000,000 in less than a week on FB, so I suppose they're a bit busy.

Anyone got any contacts/inside news at Jet Surf...?
