Well, it reached the target! Now only about 4 months to wait for the watch!

Wish I'd gone for an extra strap now, but have gone for tan strap, black face and stainless steel outer. What did you both go for?
Can't decide!
Brown, stainless and white for me. Will probably forget all about it before it turns up...

My first flight with the DJI Phantom 3, it was 10% fun and 90% terror.
I'm sure with more use my confidence will grow.

Looks pretty good! what is the range of control, and do you have live camera feed?

Looks like a pretty cool recon gizmo

DJI state 3.5km (2.1 miles) although legally you have to keep in sight so that means a maximum of 500 metres.

Yes, live camera feed in 720p on any Android or Apple table. The camera shoots in 2.7k although I used 1080p for a high frame rate.

I'm sorely tempted. yes

I tend to save interesting bottles, put a small hole through them with a tile drill, and put fairy lights in them. They look great. I would love to do a Crystal Head Vodka one.

Here's two I've done...
They look great! To save me experimenting and spending money on drill bits I'll only use once, what size drills do you use to for the holes? Do you get a 4mm bit, cut the plug off, feed the wire out from within the bottle, feed the bulbs in through the neck and connect the plug back up?

I have done exactly that in the past, but I recently bought some ultra-thin LED lights which you can feed in through the hole you drill near the bottom. This is far preferable because, quite apart from less faff, it also means you don't need to get the whole thing PAT tested again.

These are the ones - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B018HVVWV4
They're currently £15.59 but I've bought them for as little as £11.99 in the past as they come up in deals from time to time.

I don't know who the artist is - they are the posters commissioned by Elon Musk and Space X

Oh they're those ones! Those aren't Steve's because I emailed him when I first saw them a while back to ask and he said he was aware of the Space X ones and confirmed that they're not his, and also that although they are similar to his style there is no infringement.

I don't know who the artist actually is though.

That is pretty awesome, being able to recon up to two miles out!

I thought/think exactly the same as you. It does gets slightly better when run in but is still frankly overpriced crap. As a boom box for the kitchen it'll just about do.

There's limited options in the Naim app, but you can alter the settings in some of the streaming apps like Deezer or Spotify.

The speaker gets good reviews in this thread on here but I can't understand why. http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
Well, it seems to be bedding in a bit now, after a few hours of play. Bass is a lot less intrusive now. Have you run yours in yet, and has it got better?

I still think, perhaps I was expecting too much, that it's not worth £600.

I've had a go on a few different drones now and I'm yet to 'get it'...

Once you're up and you go "oooOo" for a bit I don't get what you do next. A great tool for commercial video production but I don't get the leisure interest.

Suppose the pointlessness makes it truly frivolous! hehe

FPV is fun, where you wear goggles and have the onboard camera view. I've got a couple of big hexes I use for commercial stuff but like you say after a bit it gets boring, even chasing cars etc. 250 size FPV on the other hand is great fun, check this video out (not mine!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MBW8zoZUR4

On my Hubsan X4, I like to fly it around like you would a plane or helicopter - getting some speed up and zooming around a bit. I think many people just see quadcopters as things that hover and move around very little which, I agree, is a little boring.
I have probably had more fun out of the X4 than I have my AR.Drone 2 for precisely this reason.

I'm the same, have a DJI phantom 2, I've taken it away with me before but it's been too windy. 9/10 I'm flying it from my back garden once every 6 months.
