Been thinking about an exotic addition to the house for years. Popped out to the garden centre and went for a browse in the pet shop. They mentioned they had the Viv arriving next day. Browsing on Google the Viv was very well priced so next day I was back to pick up th Viv so no going back now. Its now I realise the Viv is the cheap bit. hehe should have a crested gecko or 2 in a few weeks.

I wanted one of these then realised I would rather create it myself and do this:

Then SWMBO kicked off and said no as I already have a rainforest terrarium.

I did see that pretty cool. You got any pics of yours. Eventually id like to build a full live Viv down to worms and woodlouse so a full eco system but that will take some planning and work.

Looks like that could be re-purposed as a biltong maker.

sure have, its a small one with moonlight and needs nothing more than reservoir filling every now and again and nutrient rich water adding to the fogger.

Everything in there are rainforest plants and shouldn't exist in London/UK without the Terrarium.

Haha, doubt it, ive seen threads of people hooking these little china amps up to thousands worth of speakers for a proper listening test

And yeah, ill definitely look into making custom "Sperker Audio" badges for my DIY speakers wink
Good man!

I keep looking at the Chinese valve amps, mostly just because I've always wanted a valve amp! smile

Very jealous. I want to keep poison dart frogs, but I have been told that I would become single if I bought some.

Oh no. I really like the idea of that. Looks like there's potential to get really obsessive about it too spin moonlights, foggers, I'm in! <disappears off to google>

Ones bred in captivity aren't actually poisonous, they believe it's part of their diet in the wild that causes them to be so deadly.

Mine is a BiOrbAir... I picked it up from the manufacturers at a trade show fully planted for a lot less that you would pay for one now, think it was £200 or so.

Aren't the pink flowers normal orchids?

Then I saw the price.

Biopods are a step up again but unavailable in the UK worth a Google though.

It was the price of them that got the idea shelved!

Then go to the website and realise they sell the 'tech' for £40 combined, the other £360 is for a plastic bowl. I really like the idea of a rainforest in my house and there's a nice link on youtube to one with fish swimming around in the bottom of it. At OP's £200 point, it makes more 'sense'.

The one I got was ex demo from the trade show so it mad perfect sense when its £400 to buy and circa £200 to pay someone to build the landscape. Plus its frivolous and we made 5 figures in profit at the trade show, so I decided to buy something.

If I were to do it again I would be going down the bespoke route of either pretty glass aquarium and tech... or building one from scratch of my own design... I would have all tech hooked up to RPi to allow it to be monitored and keep at optimal temp/humidity/start fogger/etc...

In fact I know my folks are managing my current Terrarium, are quite fond of it and don't really want to give it back when I get back from my stint in Aus, so I will more than likely let them keep it and use that as an excuse to work on a new one instead.

Hmmm...

I will get in so many problems now I have this in my head!!

I've got a BioOrb fish tank sat in the garage, doing nothing, which you can have for a sensible price, if you want to just buy the tech...
